Cal is interesting because I don't think he's really evil in the way that Nate is. I mean he's a macho asshole with a fucked-up view on masculinity and relationships, like he's not a good guy. But he seems genuinely distressed that he had sex with an underage girl, even if it was mostly about him losing his status in this town, it's still understandable. And he didn't go the route of like threatening or intimidating Jules, which she was clearly expecting, but it seemed like it never crossed his mind to hurt her, he was genuinely afraid she might ruin his life for this what he sees as an honest mistake (even if you can argue that he should probably do a better job of checking that his random, young, sexual encounters actually are of age). But he's clearly not violent or disturbed like his son.
