Colman Domingo (Ali) is an amazing actor. He's good at pretty much everything I've ever seen him in. Force of nature. He won an Emmy for his performance on this show, and has been nominated for two Oscars and two Tonys.

Point of clarification on AA, NA, Al-Anon meetings... while there's no official policy, generally most AA/NA meetings will be attended almost entirely by addicts/alcoholics. Non-alcoholics/addicts are allowed to attend open meetings (as opposed to closed meetings, which are for intended for alcoholics/addicts only), but even with those, the vast majority of people in attendance will be alcoholics/addicts themselves. Also, while non-alcoholics/addicts are allowed to attend open AA/NA meetings, the meetings are still intended to primarily focus on the needs of alcoholics and addicts.
Anyway, what Carmy and Sugar attend is Al-Anon, a related program that was founded by the wife of the co-founder of Alcoholics Anonymous (Bill W.). Like AA/NA, it is based on the Twelve Steps, but it is a group designed to help people who are not necessarily alcoholics/addicts themselves, but have alcoholics/addicts in their lives (who may or may not be in recovery).
