2025-10-29 20:07:31 +0000 UTCMy personal favorite line in the episode is Michael's "Don't call it that." in response to George Sr. referring to Orange County as "The O.C." which was the title of a popular series that premiered on Fox a few years before Arrested Development. Harry Hamlin was known at the time for a lot of things, but his longest running TV role was on LA Law, a popular series in the 80's. The title "For British Eyes Only" is meant to evoke the 1981 James Bond film "For Your Eyes Only", as do the titles of the episodes featuring Charleze Theron. The music cues are designed for the same effect. This is the only episode of the series to dispense with the opening titles, replacing it with a "Previously On..." montage of scenes that hadn't actually appeared in the previous episode. It also is the only episode to eliminate the "On the next Arrested Development..." ending in favor the Bond-like ending of the car driving off to the sound of a gun shot and the tagline "Michael Bluth will return in "Forget Me Now." Coincidentally, a few years later Jason Bateman and Charleze Theron would play husband and wife in the Will Smith movie Hancock (2008).
