Yes Sarge's origin is a bit convoluted but what I like about it is that it gives us a explanation for the third monolith from 5x11 and makes the events of 5x12 even more important. To make things simple Pachakutiq is a noncorporeal being like ghost rider. I call him Patchy to make it easier. Coulson's body was created by the third monolith and then sent through space and time. Patchy + Coulson = Sarge Patchy is confused because Coulson's body is capable of human emotions and he feels the connection to Daisy and May through his body. Patchy is the one who can hurt izel but is also the dangerous part we see at the end
