Claire's first appearance on the show was S2E2... she and Carm ran into each other at the grocery store after not having seen each other in many years. Claire came back into Carmy's life when the restaurant was being built out, and his distraction with the new relationship brought him into conflict with Syd, because he wasn't as focused on getting the restaurant ready as he should have been. I think Claire only appears a couple times in S3, with her longest appearance being in E9 when the Faks go to the hospital to try to get her and Carm back together.
