Added 2025-02-28 21:53:16 +0000 UTCThis month, it's a wide ranging conversation about finding weird bugs, fixing weird bugs, making new benchmarks, the sweet spot for a good monitor, putting your TPM to good use, and a whole lot more

For me, it's all about speed and rules. The desktop client for Outlook is slow on every computer I've ever used it on. I want to get in and out of email as quickly as I can, and everything takes 100 years. It might be faster with on-premise, but everywhere I've used it in the last decade was hosting through MS/365 for biz/whatever. When you layer on the damage that letting everyone schedule meetings with everyone else has done to corporate culture without regard for their time, I think it earns its negative reputation. -- Will

2025-03-19 05:49:50 +0000 UTCI've noticed a trend towards this in many tech circles, but I still don't really understand. Why so much hatred for Outlook? I've been in tech jobs since the last 90s, and the last 10+ as an Exchange administrator (which some might think makes me biased, but I think makes me hate Microsoft email products *more* than the average customer - or at least be more aware of their limitations). But I find Outlook to be perfectly serviceable. Not great, but nothing that I hate, or spend a lot of time thinking about.

2025-03-17 20:53:13 +0000 UTCI started wearing progressive lenses about few years back. I have my progressive glasses for everyday use and then a pair of Reading, intermediate, and then normal distance glasses. Reading I use in bed at night when reading or watching something on my iPad so the angle doesn’t matter. The intermediate pair is used for working and gaming at my desk. It is great for multi monitors when working since you are at the right focal point no matter how your head is angled. Normal distance is when I go to the movies so I recline or any other time I might be laying at a weird angle and want to watch TV. A bit annoying to deal with but found it to be better than just relying on the progressive lenses. I get my progressives from the optometrist and then order cheap pairs of glasses online for the break out glasses.
