2025-06-15 04:09:30 +0000 UTCCobb had actually been in the Army for a decade by this point, and was one of the few men to have seen combat before Normandy. As much of a epic ride this series feels like, if you step back and look at the entire war, the 101st Airborne only gets into combat for the first time in June 1944, with less than a year left in the war in Europe. And this is actually a big reason behind the issues they face in the final episode. There were combat units in the European Theater that had been fighting since 1942 (and that's just Americans, the Brits and free Poles and French had been fighting since 1939), and Cobb had been part of that. Not hard to imagine he'd probably be a bit more jaded than everyone else. That said, he'd also been in the Army for a decade and was still only a Private, so, yeah, he probably was a bit of a shithead. As others already mentioned, you see him getting taken away by the MPs in the background at the end, and in reality he actually got court martialed for striking an officer.

2025-06-10 20:37:45 +0000 UTCOne thing you'll hear if you hadn't already, but Webster's condition was different from the other troopers. Whereas Popeye or Gonorrhea went to an aid station that was still in France, Web was taken all the way to England. So, to my understanding, it was all but impossible for Webster to get back to the continent.
