Mark had the right motivation all episode long, he just had the "I have nothing left to lose" level of motivation till Eve got the taste of our first Viltrumite Spear. At the end Darkblood was talking about Nolan, because last time he was on "the surface", Nolan and Cecil got him sent back to hell, I'm saying this not because its from the comics, which it isn't, but because the context is there if you think back to all of the scenes with Darkblood from S1, all he knows is that Nolan is an evil maniac that killed his perceived friends, which would be the blackest heart.

2025-04-20 23:57:32 +0000 UTCWon't expand on it, but that last Conquest monologue was entirely original to the show and I have to say that making *him*, the absolute pinnacle of the Viltrumite way of life/system, entirely fucking miserable with his experience and success is some real *chef's kiss* shit. (Also as ever, love the reaction, y'all rock)

2025-04-15 06:06:54 +0000 UTCI wouldn't really call Cecil's plan stupid, since he has been left out of the dark on what is going on with the Viltrumites. Mark hasn't told him about what is going on in space so that was seen as the next best thing. I think if Cecil knew he wouldn't be as inclined to do what he did at the end.
