2025-03-04 01:22:10 +0000 UTCI haven't seen Speak but if she can really act, then this is the fault of a bad director. I lean toward the latter. This is a pretty bad movie lol but that does not make it unenjoyable! Maple and Arianna hit the nail on the head though, way too much of this movie is just shots of people staring at each other and assorted B-roll footage, the effects were bad even for 2008, and the performances were inscrutable. I think the director was bad, the script was rough, the VFX team did mediocre work, and the editing was a mess. It was a solid 8/10 for bad movies that are fun to watch, though. May even rewatch!

GoT syncs up fine but with Chernobyl and What We Do, I am always ahead. Everything on Netflix, Stan (an australia specific streaming service), amazon etc works perfectly

It's the sequels, when they had bigger budgets and expectations, where they tried to make them epic, event movies. Then they just become boring bad.

The MST3K guys covered this film and really hit all the awful filmmaking and acting choices (from actors who have done very good work when equipped with good scripts and direction). If I remember correctly, the subsequent movies arenβt quite as cringy, but theyβre certainly not good β¦ which makes them ripe for fun reactions. This was a lot of fun!
