The amount of "fans" who constantly complain in comment sections of reactions to this show are so hilariously ridiculous. It's one of the greatest shows ever made(much better than 99% of the slop tv we get today) and yet people act like it was trash. Even funnier that a lot of them acted like George Martin will save their precious series with 'the real ending.' So effing funny. The same guy who wrote a vomit filled book 5 with no coherent structure whatsoever and was clearly never touching the books again after he got the tv show.

The show is bad at this point even if you disregard the books entirely.

And thus ends any reasonable discussion about the series, as all the book readers started losing their collective minds with each episode until the series ended.

The fact that they made Ser Meryn into a sadistic, violent pedophile is exactly the sort of boring, dumb writing that exemplifies this show in its latter half. D&D just want to protect the morality of their main characters so much that every action they take that could be seen as objectionable must be 100% justified and make the main characters look good and righteous and bad-ass.
And that's just not what Arya's story should be about, that's never what it's been about. Her story, more than most, has been about exploring some dark shit and her descent into darkness and her crisis of identity. You don't need to make her evil but at least make it interesting.
The equivalent scene in the books is somewhat different, it's not Meryn Trant that she kills, it's another book character that's not in the show that's on her list. The scene doesn't happen in a brothel, instead she actively seduces and lures him away to kill him. That's plenty creepy enough because she's only like 11 at that point in the books, but the morality of the guy she kills is not really important in the same way. It's just a dark scene where she actively lures this guy to kill him and the scene is more obviously dark and like not good for Arya's development and something she didn't need to do, like the guy wasn't worse than thousands of other soldiers, and she's not bad-ass or righteous because she killed him.
But if the show runners would have wanted to make this scene even more interesting, they could have gone the opposite way with Ser Meryn, show him having a moment of decency and humanity despite us knowing that he has been plenty cruel in the past, like have a short scene of him being kind to an orphan or a dog or something, just in passing. Then Arya killing him would leave us feeling much more conflicted, like sure Ser Meryn was cruel but is Arya killing him really a good thing for her? What we got is just (a) more needless sexual depravity and (b) just a dumb scene for Arya's character development.

Very confusing comment. She was a piece of shit from birth and has literally no excuse considering both of her siblings go through the same stuff or worse and end up better people than her. What exactly was she a survivor of that wasn't of her own making? Getting married to Robert whose biggest sin was cheating.

Oh god, I caught up to the current release schedule. Started with so many seasons to watch and now I'm back to waiting for new weekly releases. It happened so fast, I'm not ready to stop binge watching.

Remember how you girls mentioned that the episode recaps spoke to viewers as if they were simple-minded people that couldn't read into character motives or follow the storylines? I think there are some "previously on" intros in season 6 episodes that kind of spoil big reveals. I think the intros do a bad job of referencing past events that make it super easy to piece together where storylines are headed in the episode we're about to watch. At times, they share info in the intros that makes it so simple to connect the dots and figure out what the reveal will be for certain storylines before we even watch the episode - as if we're too dumb to understand why a twist is happening while watching the episode without having been reminded about a storyline beforehand. So, like you decided to skip those episode recaps, I highly recommend skipping the episode intros starting with season 6. And sorry for the longwinded explanation haha

Now imagine reading this in 2011 and FOURTEEN YEARS LATER still not knowing what George RR Martin planned next, while lowkey knowing that you'll never find out because the show gave you an answer before he did.

Mind you this is why no matter what I will always lowkey respect Cersei. She's a survivor. A survivor with a mean streak who wraps herself in cruelty because it makes her feel like less of a victim but a survivor nonetheless.

To me, the craziest thing to happen in this episode isn’t Jon Snow’s death, Stannis’ death, Myrcella’s death, Sansa and Theon’s leap of faith, Arya’s vision loss, Cersei’s walk, or the Zombie Mountain. No, the craziest thing that happens in this episode is "You want a good girl, but you need the bad pussy.”

I still remember the complete and utter meltdown on social media after this episode. People were even more pissed off than they were after the Red Wedding. RIP Jon Snow.

A lot of religion this season. Lord of Light, many-faced God, the faith of the 7....all different styles of storylines with all different outcomes
