Squid Game 1x9 | Watch Along

This is definitely one of those shows that is very different the second time around.

Also, this puts Player 1's smile on his face while playing into a WHOLE other (sick) perspective.

All that for $31.4M (USD) ... doesn't seem worth it honestly.

Damn Maple.. your ability to disect a point of view never ceases to amaze me. Your ability to reflect another POV in all it's intricacy is phenomenal. It's insights and discussions like that, lol that's why I pay you guys. Also super happy yall are doing "shadows" 🦇🦇BAT!!!🦇🦇

Brian West

"You can do that exact games, without killing people, just send them home". That's literally Mr Beast 😂

Jacob

I'm pretty sure many people have told them myself included. I would honestly just wait until June and watch them back to back since it isn't really 2 different seasons.

Ludus Aurea

I think y'all should go into Season 2 being aware that it's basically just about setting up the chess pieces for Season 3, which will come out later this year.

Sounds like some dirty communism, to me. Lol joke, but seriously a lot of that is the same/similar to here in Australia. The highest I've ever paid for any sort of medication/medical care here in Australia was $12 for my asthma inhaler, and I heard it averages around $200-300 in the States for one if you don't have insurance, which is wild. But all of that might change soon, unfortunately, since our potential future Prime Minister wants to emulate Mango Mussolini from the US.

10/10 Show. I was also surprised at the high quality of the show after I watched it back in 2021. Season 2 is also very good.

Yea american work culture seems wild and society in general. Im from the uk and london might be different but in northern ireland, I've never had 2 jobs, most of my uni was free in scotland and repayments are fair, you dont pay until you earn over a certain amount, the government gives you the loan not a bank too. I rent alone and have lived by myself or with gf since i was 19, in the city. We all get 5.6 weeks paid time off minimum at work by law, full time work weeks are 32-37 hours, women get a year maternity leave, with 9 months of it paid. I dont even know what medical debt is, I have no debt at all and havent even owned a credit card, ive never paid anything my whole life for any medical needs, we dont even have the £9 precription fee england has. (aside from in taxes oc which are high) btw we dont even do our own taxes its done automatically by the employer, i've never filed any kind of returns, you have unlimited sick time at work because duh you're sick and the government can even pay you if youre out long term. Tap water is great, food is free from harmful chemicals and fairly cheap. 15 eggs are £2.15 right now. Air quality is great. You can walk to supermarkets pretty much everywhere. A holiday to spain for a week including flights + hotel + food like all inclusive or half board you can get for under £150 fairly easily, per person, even poor people go on holiday to spain, greece, cyprus, turkey, ibiza, gran canaria etc. You dont need to own a car to get around, so you dont even need to worry about those costs and bus day tickets are fairly cheap, train can be expensive though. If you want to drive you can too, like I drive a 2014 skoda octavia that gets 50-60mpg, lowering the high fuel costs and my insurance is £500 a year. Its fairly affordable to drive a normal reasonable car. But if you want luxury and all the creature comforts that come with that, you likely would find the uk lacking, we in general in europe are ok having less than i think the average american wants, less luxury clothes, its harder to drive everywhere, we upgrade our phones less often, unlikely to drive expensive luxury cars. we eat out less often, shops close earlier and might not open at all on weekends, we get less cosmetic surgeries and non medically essential care, we live in smaller houses, we often air dry clothes and avoid things that damage the enviornment, we have less fast food choices etc.

this show may be from Korea, but it does a DAMN good job of skewering the American economic system. the girls are right, a truly scary amount of people in our middle class are either swimming in debt or living paycheck to paycheck, or both. I am reminded of a old joke from the late, great George Carlin: "they call it the American dream--cuz' you have to be asleep to believe it."

Chris Bruneau

The guy who plays The Salesman is Gong Yoo, a well-known actor in South Korea. He mainly does K-dramas but has also done a couple of great movies. the most internationally recognised being "Train to Busan".

Walid

Train to Busan reaction needs to happen since they are thirsting over Gong Yoo lol
