That wasn't the point. The point was if Brienne swears to protect you, it's not good. She swore to protect Renly and Cat. And in this episode, she swore to protect Sansa. We'll see how it goes for Sansa now, for the rest of this season.

Objectively regarding the 2 main characters Jon and Daenerys. Jon's main flaw throughout the series is he is stupid. He's quite dumb. And Khaleesi's main flaw is her arrogance. Her last move of this episode is quite arrogant. i.e "I can do whatever I want and these people will love me regardless". P.S. Lyanna Mormont has entered the chat.

Hmm when did you last watch it? This season came out 10 years ago and a lot has changed since then. It's a known phenomenon that we don't really notice CGI when films/tv come out but when we revisit them years later, we can't believe we didn't see how bad and obvious it was. Remember A Phantom Menace? Everybody thought the CGI was amazing when that was in theaters (even if they had problems with the movie otherwise). But when you watch it now, it just looks so bad.

I'm probably gonna be commenting less and less as you continue through the final seasons because other people probably don't need that negativity but I just have to say that I absolutely hate what the show writers did with Jon Snow. It was something they did in small ways from the very beginning of the show for no fucking reason and it's so annoying to me. They just made him so boring. Jon is not supposed to be the boring, honorable good guy. That was Robb. Jon is different because his background is different. They kind of pay lip service to the fact that Jon "wants" to be Jon Stark, Lord of Winterfell, but it seems so disingenuous. This is something Jon really wrestles with for a long time in the books. In what way does he want it here? Just saying it doesn't make it true, it seemed like he made his decision before Stannis even offered it and they just brush aside him debating the choice in like 2 lines of dialog with Sam. Jon is supposed to be torn, conflicted, that's like the whole point of his character and his identity. In the show, he doesn't want anything, he seemingly just wants to be left alone. And be "honorable" because... why? They also stripped him of his intelligence and scheming nature he has in the books, he's not supposed to be just an honorable himbo. They just made him Robb 2.0.

to be fair, Brienne was sent away by Catelyn with Jaime, so she was sort of far away to protect her from the Freys lol

The CG in this episode is very weird. I can't believe I've never noticed it before but I'm just idly eating chicken nuggets and watching and it's very obvious. There are multiple frames when Arya is being rowed to the House of Black and White where the water is clearly fake and the background is fake, and there's a second or two where you can see Podricks face being replaced by the stunt double and it looks horrible. It's weird though because of the scenes, like when Jon is talking to Stannis about Lyanna Mormont, the color grading and the image in general look amazing. Anyway, our boy Prince Doran is played by good old Alexander Siddig, the doctor from Deep Space Nine. I wish he was in more episodes but it is what it is.

just to be clear, Dany didn't really necessarily make the "wrong" choice by executing the ex-slave. The result would have been the same. With executing him shes starting to lose the support of all the former slaves, but without doing it she would never be able to eventually gain the support of all the noble families. She desperately needs both for this to work out, and at least with the choice she made she has only started to lose the support of a group that already supported her so regaining it seems to be easier than getting it from a side she never had in the first place.

I always think about how so unfair it is that Drogon killed the child but she punished the other two... we know who is mommy's favorite.

I think Stannis's wife probably is so mean to her daughter because she is upset that the only child she had that survived was a daughter, and in her beliefs a male heir is very important. Also Shireen openly disagrees with the Lord of Light and the red womans teachings.

This season is filled with a lot of religious themes and although the show has always lightly addressed it, this season is where we see it develop to fruition. From the Lord of light situation that we already know about, Dany's situation dealing with liberation and slavery....to other religious themes that we will see later on. I think one of the reasons why a lot of people consider this season a very notable one as a whole is because it deals with a lot of concepts that are familiar (both positively and negatively) with a lot of different people. It's a testament to the source material that was created by GRRM.
