Game of Thrones 3x05 Watch Along

Great episode. The last scene was excellent.

Ladies there is a Game of Thrones tabletop game, and it's amazing. There's also a digital version (Steam, Epic Games platforms). I have both, highly recommend!

yaknow, pillows is a good idea

Well they didn't really cast an actor for Beric in season 1. That was just an extra nodding his head once xD absolutely understandable that they recast him. Even if they hadn't, most people wouldn't remember him

Christophe

Only my 2nd viewing of this season. I cant keep it together for these few episodes, heat-breaking. Also, there better be some throw pillows going on with this couch here as well.

Yeah there's so many recasts in this show. There's like 3 or 4 mountains. Daario is recast. Marty Lannister also plays another character.

Joshua Luzania

I just remembered that Beric is the guy Ned ordered in s1 to gather 100 men and kill the Mountain

I think the main reason he didn’t take milk of the poppy is he wanted to be awake during the entire procedure so that this fake maester didn’t remove his entire arm. Remember the maester without any chains told Jaime the safest procedure would be to remove the arm and Jaime was afraid that if he took milk of the poppy he would wake up without an arm.

I think Jaime doesn't take milk of the poppy because it can be addictive and dull the mind

I forgot about the moment when Cersei's smug grin gets wiped off her face by her own father, its sooooo satisfying!!!!

They say it in the episode. Red hair= kissed by fire among the freefolk. But fire is featured a TON in this episode. Several characters get "kissed" by a fire or have fire act as the transition between scenes. One of the cooler ones is after Robb kills Lord Karstark, he walks just out of reach of a fire and then we transition to Arya looking at a fire. And when her scene is over, we transition from her keeping warm by a fire to Queen Selyse (Stannis's wife) praying with her arms stretched to be kissed by the fire.

Jaime's arc, ugh, best evolution of a character ever. Walter White is a close second. And Nikolaj Coster-Waldau absolutely kicked that bath scene in the dick, just fantastic. Also, Kit Harrington and Rose Leslie (Jon and Ygritte's actors) are married in real life. Isn't that cute?

Christophe

jon (Kit harrington) and ygritte (Rose leslie) are married IRL, so that chemistry wasn't acting!!!

Chris Bruneau

I wholeheartedly agree with Elesh, the character arc of Jaime Lannister is one of the most fulfilling of the entire book series. In Book 1 he is a evil, arrogant, monster, but after he loses his hand----- lets see how you feel about down the road....

To answer Maple's question about the shooting locations. The cave where John and Ygritte were getting down and dirty is in Iceland, called the Cave of Grjótagj. The place where Daenerys was in this episode (and the rest of the season) was shot in Essaouira, Morocco.

If I'm not mistaken, kissed by the fire means people with red hair. Also that baths scene, absolutely beautiful, the shots, the acting, the importance of it to Jaime's character. The moment where Jaime faints and corrects Brienne "Jaime, my name is Jaime" never fails to make me cry a little. You could see signs of this during conversation between Jaime and Robert about their first kills, Jaime always had that massive displeasure to be seen by people as the kingslayer. One of the best scenes in GOT.
