Considering the fact that he succeeds more than any other Richmond coach, I don't get your point. Also, he wasn't hired because of privilege, he was hired because Rebecca thought he would be terrible and wanted to use him. So honestly, none of what you wrote made any actual sense

2024-10-26 21:34:33 +0000 UTCThey had a bad ass therapist in the building and Nate did not to go to her. What an idiot.

2024-10-26 10:19:15 +0000 UTCBig puffy Starter jackets were a really big deal in the early to mid-90s.

2024-10-26 01:16:54 +0000 UTCIt's weird that Nate understands why he's mad at Ted and can express this clearly. He is right at the next step to ask himself where this abandonment pain comes from and decide if it's ok for him to put that on Ted to fulfill that need. But everyone's got to do their own work, so there's that.

2024-10-25 23:44:06 +0000 UTCShrinking is underrated and a comedy but damn its heavy every now and then. It deals with loss and how we deal with that loss. harrison ford is so fking funning in it.

2024-10-25 21:56:06 +0000 UTCNate may have become the worst version of himself but he's not without a point when he says Ted has no clue about the game. Yes he has amazing people skills but that's only part of being a coach. The fact that he feels comfortable taking that job over people who really know football is, let's be honest, privilege. Of course he's so likeable that you forget that but it's worth saying, and I'm glad the show acknowledges it (as does Ted in that argument).

2024-10-25 19:08:04 +0000 UTCEven in S1E1, his very first scene, Nate comes in full tilt when he thinks Ted and Beard are fans, and then completely backs down when he finds out who they really are. It's all about status and where he sees himself versus the other person. Which feels true to me for someone with self-esteem issues.

2024-10-25 18:58:14 +0000 UTCNick Mohammad, who plays Nate, went on Twitter after this episode aired and laid out all of the little clues and indicators that this was coming, going way back to the pilot episode. One of the interesting things: the scene right before Nate gives the pregame speech and roasts everyone in S1E7, where Ted apologizes to Nate for snapping at him when he was drunk the previous night, was the last one on one scene between those two until their halftime scene in this episode. That obviously seeds Nate's whole thing about how he felt like he wasn't getting any attention from Ted. I just love the attention to detail from the writers of this show.

2024-10-25 17:58:29 +0000 UTCThe bummer with Nate is he needs to hear or see the praise and doesn't trust that the support or praise is still there if not said. When he blows up at Ted, he mentions that the photo he gave Ted is no longer in the office. Nate takes this action in the negative - that Ted no longer cares. But, from the funeral episode, we know that Ted values that picture as it is on his bureau & next to a picture of Henry. He looks at it every day. It means something to Ted. This is why Nate loves the Internet - instant praise. I totally understand all feelings on the Nate storyline, during my first watch of season 2 it felt a bit rushed to me which I think make it all very jarring.

2024-10-25 17:57:01 +0000 UTCI have seen ted lasso so definitely know the nate arc, how it resolves, etc... so I won't comment on that because I don't want to spoil anything but I definitely understand your anger. I remember when I saw this and they made the nate\west ham reveal and I had to wait a full year until the next season!! I was mad but I was more disappointed in him. But I definitely feel you guys.

2024-10-25 17:40:52 +0000 UTCAgreed - and not only is the photo in his apartment, it's right next to a photo of Henry. Which sure does suggest that Ted views Nate as family.

2024-10-25 17:31:01 +0000 UTCNate's behavior is classic misdirected anger at his own father. for example, we see the photo Nate gave Ted at his apartment, that because it meant so much to him! Yet, Nate decides in his own mind, that since its not displayed at the office, Ted doesn't care about him. Nate--Its all in your head, bro--now grow the fuck up.

2024-10-25 17:28:18 +0000 UTCI would definitely recommend Shrinking. It was created by Bill Lawrence (Lasso, Scrubs, other stuff), Jason Segel, and Brett Goldstein (Roy Kent). Brett even joined the cast for the second season, and it's the best work that Harrison Ford has done in years.

2024-10-25 17:08:03 +0000 UTCNate's arc is 100% supposed to piss you off but there is supposed to be some minor sympathy because of his daddy issues, but these circumstances dont allow for sympathy imo, if anyone complains about how yall fell about him then they are being a contrarian for the sake of being contrarian!
