Boo Hoo. If a simple comment like that is going to "ruin" the reaction for you, then you have bigger issues to worry about.

Damn, you lost me over that Elon comment ruined the watch. I just wanted to enjoy LOTR with you two's reaction. Please no Po or REL, I would like to keep the personal beliefs, well personal. I say this as only a request, this is America. Ask Twitch if people really want to hear anything about Po. Again only a request from a avid fan for a while.

Out of all the actors in LOTR Bernard left me the most moved. He was so good, so emotional.

You said a place like Edoras has to have a place like that, and yes, there is. Mount Sunday in New Zealand is where they filmed Edoras. The scenery is real, though there's no town/castle on the rock outcropping.

I think, if I had to, I'd give up all extended scenes in all the movies and keep just four: the granting of the elven gifts, Faramir's flashback to Boromir in Osgiliath, Aragorn calming down Brego, and Saruman's scene in the beginning of ROTK. I haven't seen the theatrical since the theater and have seen the extended versions so many times I'd miss every scene, lol. If I could only keep one-- Faramir's flashback.

RIP Bernard Hill. Theoden is low-key maybe my fav. character in these films, he has such a great arc and such a tragic and realistic motivation. A huge part of it is Hill's performance. He has some stunning scenes and I think this is the character that improved the most from books to film. That scene at his son's grave is wonderful. He will be missed

Someone should make a version that's a trimmed up extended version. a kinda halfway between the two.

The boy that Aragorn talks to at 2:45:00 is Viggo Mortensen's son in real life. (Viggo Mortensen is the actor who played Aragorn).

I think there are some scenes from Extended that are necessary but there's a few that are definitely fan servicey, same with Fellowship. I don't feel like that's the case in RotK at all, which is interesting.

yes, Viggo really broke his toe kicking that helmet--so that scream isn't acting LOL

They do still play these movies in theatres. When I was visiting friends in Oregon last year, we went to see a marathon of these in a theatre in Portland.

Never seen so much emotion with the Ents 😄
Also Maples facial expressions reminded me of Will in Season 2 and then you mentioned Bob and I had a good laugh 😂

great reaction!! I personally prefer the theatrical version of this film--the "special edition" is too long and filled with lots of fan service. But it is still a great film none the less

Two small things about the moments between Elrond and Arwen.
First, when he talks about her having to live with her grief, he isn't just being harsh so he can stay with her. He's speaking from experience. His twin brother chose to become mortal and his wife was murdered years ago. He's had to keep on living with his grief for thousands of years after losing both of these people who he was incredibly close to.
Second, when Arwen says, "You have my love, father," the word she uses in Elvish is the familiar form of Father. She's basically a daughter saying, "I love you, daddy."

I think something that Eowyn and Theoden have in common that makes them seem "annoying" is that they both want to die in battle. Eowyn is recklessly chasing renown. Theoden thinks the world has basically ended and he's destined to be the last king. Saruman's spell over him combined with him completely missing his son's death has pretty clearly sunk him into an inescapable depression. Over the course of this movie and the next one, they both come to see the value in creating a future instead of dying for the sake of a glorious ending.

I've stood in that exact spot where Gandalf summons Shadowfax, and our tour provides a horse costume so two of the group can recreate the scene 🤣 I've also visited many of the other spots like the Oliphaunt sighting/ambush, where Frodo and Sam leave the Fellowship and the mountain where Edoras sits. its even more beautiful in person

It's crazy how much harder Theoden's line "No parent should have to bury their child" and his breaking down in private hits you after you've seen all the movies before. There are a lot of these rewatch moments that just squeeze the living shit out of your heart.
Edit: also I reckon you'll need more than one box of tissues for the third one lol

And suddenly peace descends on Diegesis Town, as the Two Towers begging, moaning and pleading grinds to a halt and calm returns once more … until 3 hours later - “hey, Two Towers was good, but you know what’s even more amazing? Return of the King, you guys will love it”and “Man, I’m really jonesing for some Return of the King!”, and “it’s been two weeks ladies, you promised us Return of the King, where’s Return of the King?!?!” Gonna be fun.
PS. I’d settle for Maple doing It Follows, but hey you do you.
