IT part 2

Spicy one incoming haha

IT part 2

Comments

one of the main reason I enjoy you guys' reaction videos more than anyone else's is that you're not afraid to openly say when you think a movie/show sucks absolute shit. it seems like every other reaction channel feel they have to soften their opinion which always felt very insincere to me

your local cryptid

In defense of shock vernacular the only way it was an orgy is that multiple people were involved and the act did occur multiple times. Yes, gross to think about a bunch of 13 year Olds or whatever they were, doing it but was it an orgy in the typical first reaction to the word definition of it? The book I believe used the "magical" power of love and the physical act of it to break the boundary spell trapping them in the dead zone but it wasn't done because it was a party lol

Brian West

Wow, too bad for you two, millions of fans saw it differently. I have honestly never seen a judgier, crabbier reaction.

ded cowbowee

I love your channel and your honest takes. I, however stopped this halfway through the reaction because I could see how much you both were disliking the movie which in turn really dampened my desire to continue watching. It gives that terrible feeling of sharing a piece of media with a friend or family member that you enjoy and seeing them pretty much despise it. It makes you question your taste/judgement. I do look forward to all the other reactions you do, because I really appreciate your perspectives. Keep it up.

Sean Barbante

But yea the writing was much more impactfull than any movie could present. Lol and none of my rant is critical of yall but yea the part two is more for those that read the books and were disappointed with the first original IT movie

Brian West

There is also a whole chunk of the story cut out for whatever reasons, probably time or maybe area or sensitivity dependent involving bills marriage lost in translation etc.

Brian West

Lmfao but once again I ask why did you do this to yourselves?🤣

Brian West

But yea the themes in the movie and the book were visceral and real and overwhelming, and they definitely reflected that with the audio and visual effects. Pennywise was a creature that could literally become what you fear most and you were it's food source lmao But yea the director and the actors attention to detail and pushing what was marketable or "acceptable" to the times while sticking as close to the source as possible was on point AF

Brian West

Some people have grown up with Harry Potter or Captain America but some of us were the same age as the kids in the book and Bill was the man, Richie, Eddie and Stan were the courage Mike was strength and reliability and it doesn't look great from any perspective, what happened in the book in retrospect, but the love and friendship was the magic fought and killed the evil in the darkness.

Brian West

Lol I read the Book It when I was ten or eleven. These 2 movies for fans of the book are like getting LOTR lore or Every Flavor beans for Christmas. The whole reason I've been so interested in the reaction is to see if the movies could have the same effect on the psyche without having read the book first and also to see it from an adult perspective as well.

Brian West

I've been saying this for a while, sometimes a terrible movie makes for a great reaction. I would love to see the girls react to a Neil Breen movie, I know it would never happen, but it would be kino.

Woz Lee

Do people just hate this movie because of the violence on marginalized demographics? The writing? The attempt at condensing probably 700 pages of narrative the best that it could? It's not perfect, but its far better than anything marvel/disney/star wars/movies in general that have been filmed the past five years. For the most part, both movies together encapsulated the themes in King's coke-driven 1200-page non-linear story. Themes of bullying, discrimination, loyalty, coming-of-age, friendship, love (minus a very controversial scene in the book that I disavow), its prevalent in both movies. Generally, I like the book. Mainly, its prominent themes of childhood friendship and loyalty. Overall, I just think the movies embodies the absurdity that Stephen King was as a writer driven by alcoholism and drug addiction. I'm glad he overcame those obstacles or else we never would have received a sequel to The Shining which I loved both the book and the movie. Mike Flannigan, I think that was the director, correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought he did an amazing adaptation of the novel while also staying consistent with that abomination from the 70's. I agree with King, that movie was awful, especially its stale and empty dialogue. Cinematographically, it was beautiful, but it didn't capture the horror and thematic depth of psychological grievances that a recovering alcoholic endures within a supernatural evil hotel, and hopefully prevails. I apologize for expressing my thoughts thoroughly. I already know they don't matter to anyone on the Internet.

MSTORM

I enjoyed the girls' commentary way more than the film itself. Wow, that was a shit movie

Chris Bruneau

I think i started sleeping halfway watching this for the first time which is rare for me, it just sucks.

sablo

“It” is the manifestation of the evil that lurks in small towns but because of certain choices made in the adaptation the homophobic murder which was meant to mark the beginning of the 1980s appearance of Pennywise is transposed to the 2010s where it seems anachronistic. They cut out a bunch of antisemitism and anti-Black racism including a whole 1930s subplot and they toned down the domestic violence scenes. It would have been good if they’d thought more about how it would manifest in 2019. Because they put all the kid scenes in the first movie you go into the second only having seen it from a kid POV whereas in the book all these different social forces and subtexts are constantly being highlighted.

Jacob King

the way my jaw just dropped omg-

Bodhi

“I would’ve preferred to watch Casper” “…Casper…” 😭😭 I died

This is a space for open discussion, but if the hateful language continues, we will have to block you from the community. Let’s keep it respectful so everyone can enjoy being here!

Chad Gloria

That being said this movie sucks

Vermars

It makes you uncomfortable, it’s a horror movie, hate crimes are horrific, you are supposed to feel uncomfortable

Vermars

You two need to fucking relax

Vermars

we didn’t say it was unfit, we said our critical eye was one of the reasons we didn’t enjoy as much as we could have

Arianna

AND I COULDNT SAY ANYTHING LOLOLLOL FACKKK

Arianna

@Arianna - I had Bathilda Bagshot vibes too. LOL

Trevor Go

Easily.

Alright you guys came in so hot at the end, but I do feel like there's a few points I want to put my two cents in on. Firstly, the "bro culture" stuff you guys mentioned (like all the 'I banged your mom' jokes) was just internalized homophobia, which is why Richie and Eddie were mostly the ones making those jokes. Secondly, the fat jokes. This has a lot to do with Ben. Ben hears a lot of fat jokes, even as an adult, and you guys expressed a wish to get away from that, but this is about body dysmorphia and society being judgmental, and I don't think that's being a bad movie, I think it's showing the bad parts of the world. Also, the jokes about Eddie's mom were all made by Richie and Eddie, who were not necessarily gay-coded, but I think the movie implied they were gay. Certainly Richie, who, again, I think was using that as a justification for not liking women. This movie and the book had a lot to say about how anyone LGBT+ were treated by the public, which is why the hate crime occurred at the beginning. It was in the book as well, but please remember, the book was published in 1986, when it was much more common for hate crimes like that to happen. They chose to keep the internalized (and external) homophobia that was written in the 80s in the movie, which I think is relevant. I took it as a way to show that homophobia is still a thing in the world, which is why it's in the movie. I accede that it is a wild way to start a movie, but when you're reading the book, it works much differently. Thirdly, yeah it used too many jump scares and the scariness dropped off eventually. But you were right, this is not a horror movie for the layman, it's a horror movie for the King fan. I think it's one of the best adaptations of his work that we've gotten. But if you are saying you didn't like it because it was too long, it focused too much on character development, and the ending sucks, then you should know you are in good company lol everyone said the same thing about the book! But that brings me to Point Five: I was talking about this book with a friend of mine who said, "Cocaine co-wrote IT." I've never heard a more perfect description of that book. It is great, but there are a lot of parts that are just insane. Stephen King was doing so much cocaine when he wrote this. It is like a time capsule of drug addicted horror. My point here is that it's a 2016 movie based on a book that was originally set in the 80s, they kept a lot of things in that don't quite fit with the modern day but I think it was an attempt to try and preserve the original work, which was (again) fucking great. Cocaine or no. Thanks for doing the reaction though! I haven't watched this in a few years and it was fun to rewatch with you guys!

Owen Kosik

It was cocaine

Owen Kosik

So what you're saying is, you didn't like the ending?

Owen Kosik

Let's just be grateful that neither the miniseries nor this version included the book's child orgy. Yes, instead of actually a blood oath, Stephen king included a child orgy (he was on lots of drugs at the time).

Grigsy

better than the first one? idk about that

AMS

Yeah, if I wasn't watching with them, I would've been fast-forwarding a lot of it.

Joe Blankenship

Still dont understand what the point of opening to that hate crime was

Terrell

Yeah sorry, I cant finish this reaction. This wouldve been my first time watching this movie, and its just so boring. The first one was good, but not this one. The 1990 miniseries is much better than both.

dylan s

Heroin is a hell of a drug! lol

Purported74

Any chance you both will watch the Terrifier trilogy? 😊 🤡 Art is a lovely clown everybody can enjoy! 😈

Dave M.

lol I was with you guys until the end claiming the writing was unfit for the channel

windextor89 .

Also I would suggest you guys wikipedia the synposis of the book if you don't want to read it. It was VERY controversial because of what Stephen King had those kids do for no reason.

Athasin

Also all the jokes about "hate the ending" even made by Stephen King himself... feels like 4th wall foreshadowing.

Athasin

I feel like this movie over utilized jumpscares to the point that you just stop feeling scared which means you can focus on the absurdity of everything.

Athasin

Y'all aren't wrong. This movie was a slog. The original TV movie was a lot better. And it covered both parts in 3 hours.

Joe Blankenship

No No, they already defeated him, it was a coming of age gangbang with the homies lmao. Yea I seriously believe Stephen King was on one of his Coke fueled benders when he wrote that ending...

Tanner Herlihy

I remembered not liking this one but I forgot how truly bad it was lol very silly and entirely too long!

Katie

Arianna and Maple w/the real questions. That well shit had me puzzled too

Xavier Chandler

Again, nobody thought let's bring a weapon to try and kill this scarlet witch ass clown😒

Xavier Chandler

Yeah. The whole "I didn't like the ending." is a jab at Stephen King whose work has been criticized for having poor endings. LOL. So, in a way, It Chapter 2 fits. Oh, and of course there's the kids having an orgy to defeat Pennywise too...

Eric

Shameless plug, but i think you’d both love Godfather 1 and 2.

jason michael sprecher

It 2 is overrated. You guys should have left that alone.

Stanley Etienne

I think you’d hate the book more than the 2nd movie.

jason michael sprecher

Forgot how long this chapter is. Whatever, I’m in. LFG

Bryan Erickson

excited!! wasnt even sure if it was coming arianna was so done with the first one 🤣
