Breaking Bad 4x11

viewers romanticize Walt and Jesse's relationship as if it's a 'father/son' dymanic from Walt's pov but it is very toxic like you both said. Yes, there's some feeling of care but it's definitely not the way a lot of viewers make it out to be. I'm so glad that both of you see walt's character the way you do instead of the slobbering over him that alot of viewers do. Walt is one of the most egotistical, selfish and annoying character in the entire series. It's written and acted that way(beautifully) yet so many get upset when that obvious truth is said

2024-08-02 22:58:27 +0000 UTCThere was a thing one time where they were asking you to comment any fictional character that you would pick to fight. My answer is 💯 all the time Ted Beneke. One of the biggest scumbags ever. It may be cold but I feel 0 sympathy for that dude. Burn in hell. Not only doing this but knowingly fucking a married woman and walking around like he's some saint lol.

2024-08-02 22:40:26 +0000 UTCHow the heck did you conclude Skylar giving the money to Ted was Walt's fault!? Lmao

2024-05-14 02:58:36 +0000 UTCI think you're missing the point about the fact that if they get audited they are absolutely screwed. If Walt was honest about the situation, she wouldn't be using up the money like that. The money is for the family, is it not? Why is it now just Walt's money when he has made it very clear the money is for the family?
Victor
2024-05-14 02:04:42 +0000 UTCIt is absolutely intentional that he's insufferable, the creators have said as such

2024-04-25 17:46:28 +0000 UTCHmm, unless he thought that emergency fund was immediately accessible to him and his family --say, secured in vacuum sealed bags in a crawlspace under the house? Why on earth would he leave an *emergency* fund away in Saul's *office* or with an anonymous "disappearer," as Saul called him in their very brief convo about it? I guess I'm just not getting how this would've been the practical, let alone the "smart" thing to do.

Munir
2024-04-22 21:49:19 +0000 UTCI'm pretty sure by money 'set aside' they meant leaving an emergency fund with Saul or the vacuum guy, which would've been a smart thing to do.

2024-04-22 15:18:33 +0000 UTC"We've moved way past the "omg skyler is evil bitch walt is le epic 😎" discourse. " - who is we, Skyler is a c*nt? BTW, I don't think Walt is epic or good, he is evil and he makes a ton of mistakes, out of not knowing anything about the drug business and arrogance. I'm not siding with him, but let's be clear, this issue is more so Skyler's fault. She cooked Ted's books, it backfired, she kept all of that from Walt and tried to fix the issue with his money.
Csaba Simon
2024-04-22 15:02:50 +0000 UTCTrue, both of them are responsible. I just think Skyler is more so, she was the one cooking Ted's books, and now that there is a possible issue with it, she goes behind her husbands back and gives Ted Walt's money.
Csaba Simon
2024-04-22 15:00:12 +0000 UTC…it gets even better! To borrow a phrase from Jesse, “It’s the bomb!”

2024-04-22 11:03:44 +0000 UTCsomeone has to be PAYING y’all to blame Walter this much
Tyvonn Johnson
2024-04-22 06:45:19 +0000 UTCI think we are meant to interpret from their interactions in the first episodes that they have always failed to properly communicate how they are feeling (at least when it is negative) and that is the core issue of their marriage that allows everything in the show to get as fucked up as it did. I think no matter what Skyler could ever do, it never comes close to the direct danger and the number of close calls that Walt and his family have had with death because of his actions. I don't even care if she makes irrational decisions, because her situation is completely irrational and she didn't ask for it. We can't expect her to navigate this with the comfort and clarity that we have as a viewer. Skyler's biggest fault is not recognizing the severity of her situation and getting out early, like her lawyer advised. So many things could have been avoided if she had. She is way too concerned with how her family will perceive her and Walt.
John Cedar
2024-04-22 03:10:09 +0000 UTCHe did have money set aside... She stole it haha. What on earth are you on about. Everything to do with Ted is on her. She cooked the books for him, she stole money to solve it and she didn't tell the guy who made that money that she stole it. Walt deserves criticism for a lot of stuff but you are going to pull your arm out of your socket with the reach you have made
Zane Platt
2024-04-22 00:45:57 +0000 UTCGreat reaction! I genuinely like Walt as a character but his "grand strategy" this episode was: Walt: You can't kill me 😈 Gus: I'm killing Hank + if you say anything I'll kill your entire family. Walt: Oh. Then he tries to pay half a million to have his family put into criminal witness protection. Like... this never crossed your mind bro? You said 40 times you did this 'for the family' but you're literally the only reason they're in danger. Walt has some truly genius plays, but this was not one of his best 💀
Kara
2024-04-22 00:44:17 +0000 UTCShe cooked the books for him and she didn't tell him that she stole more than a half a million to solve an issue she created... He shouldn't have to tell her anything because why should he expect her to rob him of half a million plus haha. The excuses made for this are deranged
Zane Platt
2024-04-22 00:42:52 +0000 UTCShe wouldn't have given the money away if she knew how dangerous the situation they were in was. Walt repeatedly lied to her face about the scale of the danger, even when she straight up asked. He literally told her that HE is "the danger" and that he makes millions a year.
Kara
2024-04-22 00:37:34 +0000 UTCI mean yeah but there's nothing more he could've really done. So there's still nothing more he could've "woken up to" hence my statement. Also you basically just described what I said. It's not actually funny, what's going on. But that's what hysteria is. He's mentally breaking down at the horrific irony he's gonna die and it's all over, because Skyler gave away his money, then used his own justification. Those actions have doomed them all.
Lorenzo Baxter
2024-04-22 00:36:29 +0000 UTCIf Skyler knew they needed the money as a contingency to escape from a man who would murder their whole family, she wouldn't have gave it away. Instead Walt tells her "I am the danger", and then is stuck in the crawl space cackling like a hyena preparing for everyone he loves to be murdered. Bad strategy! Also, can we not call Skyler a "cunt"? It's not 2011 any more bud. We've moved way past the "omg skyler is evil bitch walt is le epic 😎" discourse.
Kara
2024-04-22 00:35:04 +0000 UTC"its not like there's some larger than life events he needs to wake up to." It isn't until this episode that Walt internalizes that if he disobeys Gus, Gus will have his entire family executed, including his 'infant daughter'. That's a massive misstep / overplay. He never once before this episode assumes that Gus will harm his family, and as soon as he realizes this he panics and is about to leave everything behind. He's missing the big picture in the sense that he never realized how far Gus will go in his plot, how much planning he put into all of this - Gale, the op, the lab, the cartel conflict, Mike + Tyrus and Victor, everything. As soon as Walt hears that Gus is ready to murder his wife and kids, its over, he has no more cool plays, his only play is desperately escaping + begging saul to tip off the DEA, and hoping he follows through. The overplay is everything up until this point. I never read Walt's laughing as him laughing at Skyler keeping a secret. I just thought... in this moment, he knows he's dead, because his wife gave their money to Ted Beneke, the only money that could save them, and in this moment he realises he's stuck there like a limp racoon in the crawl space with no more moves or plays and no way out and it's funny! he has a little mental breakdown, because the whole situation is ridiculous, like how did it even come to this? It's just darkly funny lol.

2024-04-22 00:30:10 +0000 UTCW takes!!!!!! WWWWWWWWW DOT COM. Post-discussion was so validating. Walt cares about his family but sucks ass at actually loving and protecting them. I see comments this ep blaming Skylar, but Walt has been lying about the danger they’re in to the extent of intimidating her. Skylar is protecting the family from an incriminating audit and not telling Walt out of fear. He refuses to communicate and she's followed suit. Skylar made a mistake cooking Ted’s books. Walt made a mistake putting his entire family in danger as collateral. Maple is so right, if Walt was smart and really cared, he would’ve set money aside for escape. Arianna being infuriated is so real.
Bryce Shinohara
2024-04-21 23:06:09 +0000 UTCThat's because Walt has at least a little bit of blame in everything that happens. It's just good character writing, it would be much less interesting if he was completely blameless and it was more straightforward.
Munir
2024-04-21 19:45:39 +0000 UTCWalt gave Skyler his money and convinced her he was safe and making millions a year. Both of their dumb mistakes led up to this, but people are much harsher on Skyler.
Munir
2024-04-21 19:41:19 +0000 UTCI really like you guys but blaming Walt for Skylar cooking the books for Ted and then giving him money to solve that is insane 😂. That is not a Walt issue. That guy deserves a lot of criticism, but you guys blame him for everything 😂😆
Zane Platt
2024-04-21 10:14:00 +0000 UTCUnderstanding Walt's character means you have to divorce yourself from your own moral compass and apply a heavy dose of narcissism and self-importance.
DinChild
2024-04-21 07:24:41 +0000 UTCSaying the money is gone cause Walt wasn't honest is a hot and tbh bad take. Yeah Skyler gave it to Ted cause she had no idea about the situation, but she didn't tell Walt what she was doing with HIS money. I mean come on, the money is mostly gone because Skyler is a c*nt and Ted is a dumbfuck.
Csaba Simon
2024-04-21 05:33:07 +0000 UTCOh yeah I'm no Walt apologist lol. I just think the gals are maybe misguided on why Walts character is so loved. Trust me, I know what kind of man he is. That makes for all the better character writing.
Lorenzo Baxter
2024-04-21 04:29:39 +0000 UTCSorry I thought it was a Walt apologist post. Yeah I guess Skyler is complicit as soon as she starts laundering his money.
Stewart MacInnes
2024-04-21 04:25:56 +0000 UTCNo one said he wasn't. But you can't blame event that occurs on him just because it all "started because of him" that takes away the agency of the other characters and completely sucks the fun and complexity of why these people choose the things they do. And it's not all on Walt. Blame goes all around. 😅
Lorenzo Baxter
2024-04-21 04:10:52 +0000 UTCWalt and his family were not at risk of being killed because his wife kept a secret. They were at risk of being killed because Walt started cooking and selling crystal meth and murdering people. Walt is my favorite character of all time, but he is a reprehensible sack of shit.
Stewart MacInnes
2024-04-21 04:04:46 +0000 UTCSo good. This final scene got me into watching reactions.

2024-04-21 03:33:20 +0000 UTCTeam Walt!!
Justin
2024-04-21 00:58:38 +0000 UTCyou know what in retrospect past season 2 skyler is a much more interesting character and i kind of wish they traded season 1 screen time of her for season 4 screen time. Her and walt are definitely made for each other haha.
Eamon
2024-04-21 00:35:30 +0000 UTCWalt isn't really overplaying his hand here. He's literally calling Gus out on the truth. He literally can't kill him yet. Gus needs Jesse and he can't continue his operation without him. So yeah. Walt played the only hand he had there. Also, it's not really bigger than Walt. Gus' war with the Cartel is completely personal. So its not like there's some larger than life events he needs to wake up to. It's also not Walts fault at all that Hank is a good investigator. Now yes, he did let his ego get to him (shocker) and put Hank back on the case. But you can't put that all on Walt. Hank is still chasing the same goose. Plus Skyler made the choice to keep this from Walt. Thats what he was laughing at. The absolute bitter irony of the fact that Walt claims everything he does is for his family, justifying to himself why he needs to keep all these secrets. Now, Hank is gonna be killed, Walt and his family are gonna be killed, all because his wife kept a secret, spending all his money on a man who she had an affair with. Plus, her excuse is that "she did it for the family." Same as him. If that doesn't send you into a mental breakdown of hysterical laughter, I don't know what will.

2024-04-21 00:22:05 +0000 UTCThis show is exhausting

2024-04-21 00:08:56 +0000 UTCI would second this, the last two episodes really flow together as a 2-part finale and you wouldn't want a break in between those if you can help it.
Dustin
2024-04-20 23:25:01 +0000 UTCCan't wait for them to see these last two episodes, they're some of the best of the whole show. I can already imagine their faces at the end of ep 13, lol.
Dustin
2024-04-20 23:24:34 +0000 UTCLol Maple just shrinks further and further into herself as each of the last 10 minutes go on. This episode does a great job of making you feel the anxiety and tension and then cranks it up to 11.
Dustin
2024-04-20 23:19:43 +0000 UTCNo wonder Bryan earned so many awards just for this show. And BCS is at least at that level, if not better. Also, Walt is insufferable for everyone (up to this point, won't spoil potential developments in future eps) except some guys that coincidentally act and think the same toxic way Walt does.

2024-04-20 21:06:24 +0000 UTCTHIS episode is soooo intense, my heart actually started racing!! the music, the frantic editing shots, its amazing!!!!!! Also, Walt turning in to the Joker was fantastic!!!!

2024-04-20 21:06:10 +0000 UTCChad, is it possible to organize for the girls to watch the 2-part finale back-to-back? It's guaranteed they are going to enjoy it a lot more. Maybe you could also release the reactions at the same time? (wishful thinking :D) Edit: the reason I count 4x12&13 as a 2-part finale is because it essentially is in how the episodes are structured.

2024-04-20 19:37:07 +0000 UTCI should have stayed home today, I could be watching this right now! Been waiting all week. Instead I'm stuck playing pool at an out-of-town tournament with snobs who aren't even good enough to be as uptight about the format. Can't wait to see your reaction to Walt losing his mind!
