I always saw it as her checking in every now and then, like a Mom calling you. Also remember that Spirit Vines weren't in Republic City until the end of S2, so perhaps Toph's vision wasn't as omnipresent until that happened.

2024-02-04 23:18:16 +0000 UTCSo Toph is using the vines to keep track of the world and her daughters, knows all about Amon, and basically ignored Lin having her bending taken. Then again, Toph having her bending taken would be very bad, worse than for most people.
