One of the things to which I had trouble recalibrating regarding Season 11 and that I really appreciated upon (maybe the third?) rewatch was the significant number of Big Ideas being introduced -- with Amara and the Darkness and souls, etc. It's like the characters are swimming around in the Big Ideas as opposed to our being able to root for or hope for something specific -- "finding Dad," for example. It takes some getting used to, but I love a show that risks deviating from form to go there.

I can't remember if it's been mentioned since - maybe when Cain showed up in the prison I think it was mentioned too. I love how this episode goes from MOTW to plot. The mark of cain on the paper is a bit surprising and turns the episode round instantly.

2022-06-30 02:08:27 +0000 UTCDemons are corrupted souls that possess a body. The body isn't actually theirs, and doesn't have to be alive. The person could be dead and their soul gone. That's why when Amara took the demon "smoke" she was basically eating the demon. The bodies they possessed were already dead, so when the demon left the body, it just collapsed and was a corpse. At least the ones we saw. If the body were alive with a human soul in it, she likely would have taken that too, but the body would still be alive. But the demons don't have anything but their smoke/soul. That's all they are. Their entire entity is in that. It gets tricky.

He is best known for being in The Book of Mormon on Broadway, in the first national tour, and in London prior to doing this episode. He once got J2 tickets to see TBOM on Broadway when they were in town for a convention. Other than that, I am going to be staying quiet on the teen Amara episodes since I don't enjoy them much.
