i notice that because mako and bolin are pro bending athletes that in an outside scenario where they have to fight, their mastery over their elements begins to wain and fail them, because desna and eska were probably raised in the techniques of mastering the element, but also because there’s a lot of snow and they can use it more to their advantage idk
