And I'm a fan fic writer, and avid reader. But I just wouldn't ever ask the boys about it. 😬 Loved hearing the boys talk about their upbringing too. Like Jensen, I was also spanked as a kid, and while I certainly don't hold any ill will toward my parents for it, just allowing that it was the norm at the time, I have never spanked my daughter, nor would I ever. I think it sends a very backwards message and in the end is just ineffective. Positive reinforcement will always work better than corporal punishment, in my opinion. It does make me shudder to hear Jensen talk about being hit with a belt. I had friends who got a belt when they were punished, and it always sounded horrifying. I remember still having the "strap" in school, which was a leather strap that the principal used to hit children who misbehaved. My cousin got the strap on his hands when we were in Grade 1 and I cried and cried when I saw his hands. The idea of letting some other adult strike my child just makes my blood boil. Thankfully, corporal punishment was phased out of Canadian schools sometime around Gr. 2 for me, which was the mid 80s. Anyway, I've gone on a tangent about corporal punishment. Suffice it to say, I don't like it. I personally think Dean has lots of traits that I would want to encourage in my son, if I had one, and a few that I definitely wouldn't. But I actually think talking to a boy about what Dean does right and what he does wrong may also be helpful. And Dean definitely does show love and affection to those he sees as family. This was great! Sorry for my ramble! 💓
