The Last Airbender MOVIE!!!

Comments

“There is no movie in Ba Sing Se, here we are free”

Oscar Villalobos

Also aang never "started getting it" he was able to water bend immediately. That's why she was jealous. So the fact that he couldn't even do it in that scene is wrong

ParsivalXP

Whoa excited for the Netflix live action coming next year

ParsivalXP

Nobody likes him😂 we call him m Night shamalama-ding dong, the 6th sense was his only good movie and then he had the audacity to disrespect my series

ParsivalXP

Honestly first time I watched it I broke the cd and I didn’t even finish it

XRay24 Marinecrops

you two should watch the screen rant pitch meeting for the movie. It's pretty spot on.

The thing he messed up with pronunciation is that he wanted to use "correct" pronunciation and not whitewash it like the show did, but he whitewashed the cast. I want it to be completely whitewashed or completely authentic. Either make them talk with accents the whole time, or in a legitimate native language and make me read subtitles, or if you're going to cast white people, and have them talk with American accents, they should say ALL THE WORDS with American accents, including their names and stay accurate to the show. Now when people hear anyone use the ethnically correct pronunciation, they will just associate it with this mess. He did everyone a disservice, the writers, the fans, the ethnicities involved and the characters.

The Legend of Korra WILL lift your spirit. We were all confused and angry when this came out and are very skeptical about the live-action Netflix show

Alvin Everett

also (just listening to you talk about the names now) and the honoring the culture of the names is a bullshit excuse for him trying to be artsy or something dumb because half the time they say "uh-vatar" and avatar is a fucking word in English so he is clearly full of shit (ahahaha your hype-ass anger here about 2:09 is chef's kiss lmao)

MoulinNoir

the only relief at all to be had from having seen this movie is to be present while someone else who loves the show sees this absolute shit show of a movie to feel validated in our hatred, feeling the same wordless frustration ... so thank you And lol you're right Arianna, like everyone else, i was physically wincing every time you said Iroh's name that way early in the series, but it wasn't anything about you, it was just trauma from having seen this vile crime against nature So satisfying to hear you rant about what a gross and worthless pile of mistakes this movie is, thanks again! P.S. Legend of Korra has my vote too

MoulinNoir

M. Night is still out here too, walking the streets with the rest of us, like nothing ever happened. The justice system has failed us.

ezra

The test that you're thinking of when Iroh is giving Aang the things is probably the test that the monks gave Aang when he was a young boy to see which toys he would pick and that's how they discovered he was the avatar not at all the same in this movie - womp womp

Arami Celaya

should continue the lore of the avatar with legend of korra its actually good dont listen to the haters

Raine Huber

Yeah M. Night does try to act as if he is Spielberg lol

William Green

There is no movie in Ba Sing Se. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2oqrJd_NIsg

This was hands down the worst movie I've ever seen

Fernando Paiz

Oh man...I'm not e 30 min in and I'm already soo angry and bored and frustrated. I forgot how terrible this movie was. Some notes, the movie was already in the works when The Ember Island Players episode aired, and the line about the play being terrible but the effects being decent was a worst case scenario joke about the movie. And Azula is technically in s1. She is in the flashback of Zuko fighting the Agni Kai...she's smiling with glee as Zuko is burned.

Richard Z Herrera

Supposedly, Shamalan encountered a lot of studio interference, including having to cast a specific lead whose acting is...questionable. I've only been able to find one post about this from some forum years ago. The poster listed a list of changes and conditions and claimed to have been a member of production. I don't know if this is true, and its likely we'll never get a solid answer. But as a fan of a large chunk of Shamalan's works, its hard to watch this movie and reconcile it with his previous efforts...aside from maybe the action. He is not an action director.

Richard Z Herrera

Your reactions are both great to watch, and a real testament to how much you really loved the show. Cant wait to see you guys watch Korra.

Alorian

I was laughing all through out this reaction. I can't take this movie seriously. It's like an unintended parody.

Omega Sirius

I too recommend Nostalgia Critic's review of this movie to react to!

MrMoleHole

I love your reactions so much cuz you guys gave this movie a shot but you guys noticed so many things right off the bat lol also Maple's reactions 😆 "they did appa dirty" "I can't believe they did this to me"

Pale Ale

Imagine being a fan of the show, hearing about a live action version being made. Seeing a few trailers that looked quite promising. Going to the cinema with a few friends, and having to sit through this piece of hot mess. Knowing full well what the show was, how the show go's and then being slapped across the face with whatever this was suppose to be. Supposedly (taking that word with a gallon of salt) Shamalan was such a huge fan of the show. He pleaded and almost begged to be the one to make this movie. He couldnt get the names right, the flow of the show or let alone the right order of story, events are out of place or plain didnt happen. Characters not looking anything like what they did in the show, they didnt even try. Or even locations just being wrong and made no sense, like the earth benders prison..... being surrounded by earth. Instead of on a metal ship which made sense. And lets not forget that the whole cool bending from the show, is just racked over broken glass and lemons. Because the bending in this movie looks horrible and what would take one person in the show just a move of a finger. Takes several people in this movie and it still looks like crap (6 guys to bend a little rock.....) Or one person doing a minute long sequence to end up with nothing. This movie alongside the live action Dragonball Z movie...... my god On a sidenote Might be a fun reaction after this, or just to watch on your own. Nostalgia Critic and his review of this movie, sums up so much of what is utterly wrong with this, while making u laugh at least. Something this movie clearly fails at with its lack of any humor.

Rodi Borst

I actually really enjoyed watching this reaction, it made me laugh a shit ton. You guys roasted it so much, I love it. I don’t want to quote this whole video back to you but I love the comparison to telephone, the whole saying it’s like someone took the budget and did everything wrong with it and one of my favorite is “this movie is giving me indigestion” It was hilarious but I also love how you discussed the incredibly valid points of what’s wrong with this movie. Ending on a cheerier note, the actress who played yue, the only one you guys complimented in this whole movie, she actually is a character on legend of Korra. Let’s see if you guys figure it out when watching, hopefully before someone spoils you :)

Mizz

Welp. That was an experience. I really enjoyed your reaction and your thoughts afterwards. However the first ten to twenty minutes of you watching the movie could be subtitled The Death of Hope. Bravo for making it though this dumpster fire.

Clay

Omg I can't believe u guys suffered through this. Smh I can't watch the whole thing. Now u gotta do Korra to get the bad taste out of her mouth

Shai Jadaka Ture

I finally made it through the whole thing! Great reaction and post-commentary, no notes! Arianna asked about compelling characters and I feel like Princess Yue might be the only one in her brief screen time, possibly also the grandmother at the start. I haven't looked into any podcasts talking about the movie, but a memorable video was the voice actor for Zuko being in a top 11 episodes video from the series with fun skits. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vu-xhms0nXY

Jim Frykman

Definitely!

Dev Bhavsar

Paramount probably had a heavy hand in the main character casting, But I think Maple and Arianna hit the nail on the head in their wrap-up commentary.

Jim Frykman

Ewwwww...so sorry if someone actually asked you to watch this garbage...I won't ever make that mistake again. This is the worst movie ever made

JAMES D'ALESSANDRO

It made no sense to whitewash Katara and Sokka, and he could have still used the same actors for Zuko and Iroh without making the entire Fire Nation brown skinned, especially considering this came out during a time where there was still profound discrimination towards Muslims after the events of 9/11.

Dev Bhavsar

do you think shamealame is a white supremacist or something?

rubberkidney

Lord please forgive me, I purchased a copy.

Jim Frykman

I never finished watching this movie. I couldn't. I only watched someone else's reaction to it which wasn't a long breakdown. It's horrible.

Cactus Juice

Also love how they made all the brown people the bad guys and the white people the good guys. Edit: They also took Katara's motivational speech to the Earth Benders to fight back and gave it Aang.

Dev Bhavsar

The faces y'all make in just the first 10 minutes of the movie!

Dev Bhavsar
