He'd rather convince himself that he's too smart and too in control for all the horrible stuff that happens to people in the drug-business and their loved ones to befall him and his loved ones. P.S.: As another person with ADHD - I knew there was a reason I kept thinking "there's something very familiar and fascinating about how Arianna's mind works" :)
