I have to say that I'm LMAO at your Nessie surveillance conversation. It always tickles me to think we are still so naïve to the technology the MIC has - my dad (a former area 51 employee) used to tell me we have satellites that can track a dime on your carpet in your home but we still can't get good pics of Nessie or UFO's. Our cell phone cameras take better pics than what we have of the moon or "space debris" or even bigfoot.
The real problem is that we are only allowed to see what they want us to....and only know what we are allowed to know. Reminds me of that saying "history is written by the winners".
ETA: Y'all are cracking me up with your commentary...the X-Files always brings out the ridiculous in us all. It's even better now all these years later. The barking dog was a nice touch, too after Scully's dog was taken. HAHAHAHAHAHA.
I spent a lot of my years in Florida, and gators are much less aggressive than crocs...but there are not many crocs in the US, at least when I lived in places that I needed to know that kind of information. The conversation regarding our intervention is an interesting one, as I've often wondered if we are causing harm to the natural processes of evolution that should be occurring. It's a delicate balance - including where and when we intervene. But speaking of that, the ecosystem in parts of Florida are being destroyed by wild iguanas and giant snakes caused by humans.

So Mulder and Scully go on a date on a lake...nice times ensue. A dog is lost, we all cry and contemplate Moby Dick lying awake in the dark of the night. A low key comfy episode :)
The stoner kids(guy and girl) are the same characters from "the war of the Coprophages" (the cockroach episode). They're living interesting lives on the move.
Gillian Anderson said of Queequeg being killed off here "That dog killed people with its farts and it deserved to die a nasty death in the mouth of that alligator or whatever it was. Ugh. I had to shampoo it, or walk away every few seconds, because these puffs of nastiness kept happening." 🤣
