Holy smokes this was a bad episode! Jensen directing and his dad were neat bits but couldn't carry the bad parts of this one sadly.
You know I get that Dean is still reeling from his purgatory tour, where he lost Cas yet again and he cannot seem to reconnect to that brother he loved more than himself but I'd also love to see some understanding that Sam's world doesn't revolve around him (and vice versa). Does he not see that his own brother didn't even seem to care that he is back really? It's almost worse than season 6 here on coldness...brrrr!
Is it the adrenaline from his 360 degree battle royale that is blocking out how obvious it is or how Sam keeps saying he wants out now? Do we have to really listen to more of the passive aggressive or straight up venom barbs that will come? Because I wish Sam would grow a pair and MOVE on since they both deserve so much better. If he wants to go to back to that blurry life, please just go! I want Dean to truly realize his worth as more than a hunter with a big heart - someone who could do anything he wants because honestly...how can he not?

I realise this is months late, but wanted to say you made two really interesting points in your intro: 1) That Castiel did something really bad, so the SPN writers are going to punish him for it, because that's what they always do when a character makes a bad choice and 2) Dean was right when he said they should leave Mrs Tran be, as they ended up much worse off at the end of the episode than they started out. I love watching reactions as it always makes me learn something about an episode, even if I've seen it a dozen times!
