SPN Fan Content - “Paleyfest 2006” Reaction

Jensen played CJ on the last season of Dawson's Creek. He was Jen's (Michelle Williams) boyfriend. It's always fun to go back and watch this and see how new everything about the show was and how young the boys were. Ah...Lost. I loved the first few seasons, but got bored with it around season 4. I did watch the entire series and the ending was okay, but it lost its luster midway through for me. I think if I hadn't watched it as it aired and instead binged it years later I would've stayed much more engaged.

Shy boy Jensen here! Jensen is absolutely different on stage now than he was back in 2006. Credit him gaining some confidence via playing it as Dean Winchester, plus the SPN conventions and the fandom showing unconditional love. I did like the end of Lost. I know that fandom is split on it, and I think this is the minority view? Or else the complainers are loudest. Oh no, you mentioned your mom was born in ‘67. I was born in ‘65. I am old enough to be your mom! 😫 (but I would be proud )

Jensen: "As an actor, when you grow along with the character on the series, you become close to it, you protect it." Oh Jensen, 15 years later you’ve never changed, you are still the same .... Remind me of Jensen at Paleyfest 2018 (SPN S13): " ..... there was a moment that happened I believe in ep 2 of the show. We were filming it was Wendigo, we were filming out in Stanley Park & Eric Kripke sat two of us down and he said, guys, I can't impress upon you how important THIS IS, and he pointed to the two of us, and he said this relationship is crucial to the success of the show. And the show lives and dies with you and you need to understand that you are now shouldering that responsibility… And you know, we were young guys at the time, I think it really hit us hard, I know those words still resonate with me today. And the fact that he sat us down and had that conversation. I'm older now than he was then, like yeah, so he was giving us the pep talk and he was, he wasn't much older than us and that pep talk I think has sustained us for quite a while, and it just, he [Jared] and I just instantly grew up in that moment, and said you know what, we're gonna be super adults about this, and we can be children later when Misha joins the show." That's was fun. Great reaction, Shelley.

“I read for Sam … “ from Kim Manners had never been not funny to me, lol I just love, love Jensen’s “What about Dean, I like Dean … he’s funny”, “This guy is smoking hot !” Oh, Jensen, you goober David Nutter is from Game of Thrones too. SPN has gotten some pretty prolific directors, from Blair Witch Project’s Eduardo Sánchez, and Saturday Night Fever’s John Badham, to name a few.  From what I understand was, a lot of actors read for Sam since he is the ‘first’ protagonist where the story begins. Including a future actor of an SPN character who has yet to appear. So it was imperative to find the perfect Sam. And they found 2 actors perfect for the role. However, Jensen and Jared were the only ones brought to the WB executives. Eric Kripke said in more than one interview that he chose Lawrence, Kansas on purpose, because of a very famous urban legend that originates there, possibly referring to the Lawrence Stull Cemetery "Gate to Hell". Stull Cemetery was set to be the location for Armageddon - the final showdown between Michael and Lucifer in 5.22 Swan Song (from Superwiki) Regarding the notes they had to adhere to (in compliance with standards) with regards to gore and violence, Route 666 got a strange kind of moral note from the network. Anthony Pinker, one of the editors, explains: "The violence we don't get a lot of notes on." For the episode "Route 666" though, "... The note I got from the network was 'The girl can't be on top.'' (Superwiki) Thank you, Vel, for this request. This brought me back to the old days .... Jensen used to be so shy & i can relate, look at him now singing on stage, 2006 jensen could never 😂, i am so proud of him, jensen always had a huge character bleed with dean, it's a problem 😂, he's so similar to dean, he can't separate himself from dean sometimes, yes wendigo is the second episode & dead in the water is the third episode

First time seeing something with Kim in it, how awesome he seemed to be, I knew he was great but seeing him talking about the show and the work they did its really amazing. Also he gets extra points for being the only one brave enough to prank back to Jared and Jensen. It was also nice to see since the very early how much does Jared had trouble with mics 😅 I find very very cute how Jensen was like shy, even having his gaze down was adorable to see, and look at him now, talking about development right there 🥰 Great to see this kind of content and to see how since the very start they made an amazing team, not only between J2 but for the rest of the cast and crew, great reaction, see you in the next one 🙌🏻

Regarding your debate on whether to start a rewatch, each year once I received my DVD box set for the last season I would rewatch all previous seasons and then the box set with all the special features. The later seasons took a bit longer😊. I didn’t have much fan interaction early to assist with analysis so it helped me to see things I missed before and that connected with the current season.

You’ll need to download the file to see the entire thing. Dropbox only lets you preview the first hour.

Hope you’ll be able to upload the rest of this. It’s such a good panel and shows us so much about the relationships even in the beginning.
