I love young Mary Winchester. The actress, Amy Gumenick, is phenomenal. When she tells Dean how excited she is that John is going to ask her to marry him, and then in the next moment the tone switches about how she wants to get out of hunting. And then telling a Dean she doesn’t want her kids to be hunters. Breaks my head every time, especially when Dean tells her not to get out of bed of Nov 2, 1983.

Great reaction. One of my favorite episodes. I found it intriguing that you seem so invested in Sam keeping his powers that you'd trust a demon over an angel! (BTW, angels were never human.)

Loved your reaction! I was so excited to watch you watching it and I’m so glad you loved it - it’s definitely one of my favorites. The writer (Jeremy Carver) eventually becomes show runner.
In the commentary track of this episode, Eric Kripke talks about what a mind fuck Jensen had over the whole time travel thing, it’s pretty funny. If you ever get a chance to watch some of the commentary tracks, I highly recommend it. Especially the ones with Kripke or J2, They are all super smart and wicked funny.
There were a couple of points you missed or forgot that I wanted to tell you about, but I think Scarlet covered them all.
This show! Even after watching it all the way through several dozen times, I still love it and ge excited to see others fall in love with it as well. I’m glad you’re part of the family. 🤓🙃

This is always in my top 10 episodes of the entire series. In a story told so subtly there is everything laid out before us. The "why" is explained and it is incredible. All the way back to Sn 1 when Mary's ghost tells Sam "I'm sorry" To Sam finding out in Sn 2 he has demon blood in him, Mary walking in on it and she is killed. But now we have an new "why." Because Azazel had bigger plans and we don't know what they were. It involves Sam, and the angles tell Dean he needs to stop it. Wow talk about a pivotal episode. And we haven't talked about Dean going back in time and meeting he family. A lot to take in. I had to watch this episode twice when I first binged Supernatural, amazing writing here. Great reaction Shelley.

Azazel is such a great villain. He should have his own show, lol.

I agree. I have always thought Hot John Winchester looks like Castiel. Angels are never human, they were created as angels by God. Castiel has had one previous vessel. but I won't spoil that story for you.

Great reaction. It was really fun watching you with this episode. I love that it hit so many marks for you. It is a really good episode and it shows how good this show can be. I've always had issues with time travel in shows or movies, but I still really like this episode. It does pose a conundrum though. This can't be an infinite loop, right? There had to be a First Time where all this happened. And so, how can that be? Seems like Dean was the catalyst for a couple of important things happening. John getting the impala for one. Would John have gotten it anyway? And what about Azazel and Mary? Would Samuel and Mary ever met Azazel if it weren't for Dean? Maybe, since they were looking into what was happening. Maybe they would at some point. So maybe there was something else that happened that led to Mary making the Original Deal that started all of this.
That's the only way I can handle this sort of thing. So, to me, it didn't matter if Dean was there or not for Mary to end up making a Deal. sigh - time travel makes my head spin!

1) Dean is NOT named after himself. He is named after his Grandmother, Deanna (and that is adorable). 2) First time John found out about supernatural world was AFTER Mary died, when he went to see Missouri Mosley. Remember episode "Home" in first season? 3) Technically Azazel killed every member of Winchester/Campbell family, except for Dean. 4) Never heard about John looking like Cas. I think you are the first to notice that.

One of the things I love about this show is how they payoff old story threads and characters. We saw it in the last episode and again in this one. Why did Mary recognize Yellow Eyes that night he came for Sam? Here's why. Keep asking those questions because the answers are likely to come. And they're usually pretty good. One last thing I wanted to clarify, the man who Dean took the Colt from was Daniel Elkins. We met him at the beginning of 1x20 when he was killed by vampires and the gun stolen. That's the episode where we first learned about the Colt and how it was made.

I've just started watching and need to be sure I correct you about something - Lucifer is NOT out. You may want to go back and listen to what Cas said to dean at the end of the last episode.
