I love them changing Hook, looks more like Barrie's version - very handsome including forget-me-not blue colored eyes, yet still has his bad qualities that make him a magnificent pirate and "not wholly unheroic". Wait, did you say Gold was better for not lashing out? How many people did he beat and threaten this episode alone? His growth after giving Belle the library (since he owns the town) is followed up with a scene where he has Smee captive and is threatening for information on Hook to exact even...more revenge after 30+ years? And yes, they are all horrible with revenge and growth but the cycles kill me on this show! Hook is just as bad all the way to the end lol! And while I love Belle, she deserved so much more than just being Rumple's character growth cheerleader. I say this being a Rumple fan so it just makes me a little bitter looking back at these earlier episodes when she gets to become a person and not just a bargaining chip against him, played as a fool, and repeating the same 'better man' circle jerk argument.
