I can clarify one thing in your question about Mr. Gold (No spoilers, just a reminder of the timeline from earlier episodes.) Baelfire came to our world before Storybrooke was created, so Gold wants the curse broken so he can leave town and search for Bae, who is presumably somewhere in our world.
