And so the quest continues.

My 880 has arrived (non GPS)

Although we have little to no info on the internals yet, unless Radtel come through it's gonna take a while to reverse over 50 GPIOs so don't hold your breath for nicFW yet. Besides, this is such a different radio, Si4732 / Twin BK4819s it's not going to be a port, it's a full rewrite from:

void main() {

And so the quest continues.

I have had a formal response back from Radtel regarding provision of information about the 880 series, specifically schematics and GPIO assignment. Their response is this : "It will be made public later, but it will take time."

Nope. I didn't get the secondary antennas either. Kinda bummed.

Marcus, did your RT-880 come with a config cable in the box? Many thanks.

Bill

Kelvin, that's a cracking idea. The only problem is the BK4819's dead zone. Higher harmonics are bound to fall somewhere in there.

Marcus Dudley

This is a hypothetical question, at this point in time. Is there any possibility, that it might be possible to get one of the BK4819s to "sniff" the output from the other one, in order to be able to test for harmonic output. Obviously the internal circuitry of the radio is designed as far as possible to isolate the two devices during transmission, but there might be sufficient leakage that would allow the receiving unit to act as a "poor man's" spectrum analyzer. Thoughts?

Kelvin Hill

I have once again, polled Radtel specifically for schematics and GPIO assignments for this radio. I await their response. I have also asked them specifically if they intend to support / tolerate the creation of third party firmware for it. Their response to that will be very significant.
