Current Experimentation RT-900 issues

I have left my RT-900 scanning Air Band for hours and hours and hours. I have not yet gotten the frequency shift/deaf state during scanning. The only time I've ever gotten it was once directly after power on, something that's never occurred again. I'm going to need help with getting this to happen, currently it's seemingly random, that's not good enough, it may seem random but it isn't, there will be a trigger, it needs to be found, you guys are far better placed to find it than me as there are a lot more of you than there are me.

However, after several hours scanning I did get the "squelch toggling" thing happen. However, I don't think this is "squelch toggling". I hadn't touched the radio, it was just left in scan, but when I looked at the display during the toggling, the background colour of the VFO was GREEN. That's not right, during a scan the background colour should be PURPLE, the RX LED was also solid green, again not right as squelch opening and closing would cause the LED to flash on and off which it wasn't doing. So whatever that was isn't just some squelch trigger issue, there's something deeper going on. Maybe an operating mode conflict? It's like scanning and regular receive are active simultaneously and the two are fighting.

I am however surprised once again by the battery usage. Even after all those hours scanning, it's barely moved the battery level. Very impressive.

I'm still running through as many iterations of testing scanning as I can to try to nail it down. One thing that *may* have improved things is that I changed squelch to 2 as advised rather than using 1 which I previously did. I need to repeat tests a bunch more times to see if this has made a difference (and revert back to 2 to see if the problem starts occurring again). Agree on the battery usage, it took me something like 24 hours of scanning to run the battery down!

I am playing with RF Gain for ages, not once did I get a frequency drift state occur. I did notice the popping with the AM AGC and am addressing that. As for the disparity between receive on .05 and .09 that makes no sense as there's no difference, the firmware doesn't control receive, the chip does, and the chip isn't being told anything different between those versions. Plus I am unable to see any problem with general receive in .09 from any previous version.

This happens to me when I play with the RF Gain Control. Another thing I've noticed is that when I activate the AM AGC Level in manual mode I get pops every time it detects a signal, the pops get louder and louder as I lower the AM gain. Finally I turned it off and just use the normal RF Gain Control, but since version 6 it doesn't seem to work as well as before, in V5 it used to be a festival with too many receptions, and now it's a bit too quiet. Usually I play with three settings: Squelch = 1 - 2 SQ Noise Level = 47-50 AGC = 24-26. Desktop Discone antenna.
