We talked about why the protests are so large and so diverse and the movement's demands for the abolition or defunding of the police. We also talked about the concept of racial capitalism and how the right might seek to respond to the crisis of neoliberal legitimacy by pursuing policies that would seek to shore up the economic security of white working class Americans whilst doing nothing for black America.

Perhaps I missed a crucial remark or something, but it seemed like Singh glossed political economy in his summation of racial capitalism, didn't dive into the ways the production of race has always been linked to the extraction of profit. Michael Dawson is good on this: developing the concept of primitive accumulation as something which extends into the present, drawing on examples (if I recall correctly) such as police revenue-raising through ticketing in Ferguson. Dawson would be a great guest : )
