MRIXRT Upcoming Video News

Hello! I'm reaching out to give you a quick update on what I've been working on.

After my 12 hour video dropped in October '23, I started working on my next video. This video isn't going to be 12 hours (sorry :) but it's probably going to be longer than 3 hours. In this video, we'll be discussing a lot of philosophy--in fact, almost the entire last half of the video explores some pretty deep concepts, up to and including the actual "meaning of living." So... yeah, not exactly my lightest fare.

For some background on my process, I do things "the wrong way" according to Hollywood. For those who might not know, when a script is written, it generally looks something like this:

INT. HOUSE
// It's a dark night

PROTAG
Hello BADGUY.

BADGUY
Ah, it's you, PROTAG. I've been waiting for you.

PROTAG
You killed my whole family. You killed BELOVEDPET

// They begin to fight.

If it looks like this is missing something, that's because most people assume that a script includes camera movements and the writing "looks like" the movie will look in the end. That's called a "Shooting Script," and is generally done by the Director of Photography and the Director of the film after the story has been finished. They might add things like "CLOSE UP on PROTAG, he's angry! Lighting flashes!" and other 'color' that helps translate those words into something on the page that looks closer to how it looks on the screen at the end. Basically every single person who works in Hollywood will tell you not to write a shooting script if you want to write a movie--because that's not your job. Not only will it likely not be picked up by anyone, but it also hurts the primary job you do have--which is to get the story on the page and refine that.

I bring this up because I do something more like a shooting script when I write my scripts. I am constantly including editor notes, and I am supremely aware that what I am writing will be spoken aloud and then have video behind it.

I also write all my videos in chapters, or parts, and work on them piece by piece--somewhat separate from the whole. I know what I want each chapter to say, and so I will simply get that down first--then go through and refine the themes later on. This means some segments get finished long before any others. For example, in the Time Capsule video, I was still writing some of the individual parts while other parts were already edited and finalized.

What this means is that for me to say that a video is still being written doesn't actually mean anything.

So with that out of the way, I am still writing this video! But I believe the writing process is 90% finished. That means I am hoping to get this video live in the next 2-3 weeks, probably. I try not to give a firm date until the video is out of editing and into the final editing pass, where I can be confident that it will be out at that date and time. I have never missed a date once I've announced it!

Which is why I'm also not going to be very firm on anything yet. But look forward to a couple hours of content in the next couple of weeks. Probably.
