Do you have stairs in your house? Ft. Jay Brandstetter

We're kicking off a sort of side-series about the history of various formative websites, social media platforms, and forums. This week, we're talking about the history of Something Awful, a once-mighty forum that birthed much of modern internet culture, for better or worse. We're joined by Jay Brandstetter, a Something Awful historian, curator of posts on Twitter, and host of a SA themed podcast. You can follow Jay here:

What is this thing called Twitter? I have a account that I used solely to get rewards or whatever for retweeting things years ago. I'll send it over packaged with a warning as it's really fucking strange and wrong.

You should DM Jay on Twitter, I bet he'd love to take a look

The fyad color scheme I believe was a color palette sampled from goatse's distended anus.

Do you have more context or screen shots or something? I had no idea

Well fuck

I was never part of the community, but definitely subscribed to their RSS. There used to be a column showcasing messed up videos on YouTube, etc. I am still in possession of one after all of these years and don't know what to do with it. It got removed from YouTube and likely doesn't exist anywhere else on the internet. What the hell should I do with it?

Should have asked the guest why he is permabanned from SA

It's almost hard to believe SA is where Slender Man came from. That was very fun for a while until the horrific stabbing and also-horrific movie, both of which were totally unnecessary (like girl, Slendy don't even want human sacrifices just give him his 20 dollaz).
