2016-08-03 15:07:13 +0000 UTCThere are benefits to both - using component allows native 480p and 1080i output on the PS2, but some televisions don't accept 240p signals from PS1 games on the PS2 via component. Seeing as they're using the Framemeister for scaling though, it probably matters a whole lot less, since it will de-interlace the RGB image pretty nearly as well as the native progressive output anyway, and it doesn't have the 240p/YPbPr problem.

I have a PlayStation connection dongle that allows for one light gun, but at some point I would like to play with another person, and don't want to buy another guncon I can't connect two simultaneously. I'm especially interested in recoil mods as its one of my favorite things that make playing gun games at arcades more amazing. I understand if he was using component and I was using S video it wouldn't work because of progressive scan. I mean specifically for his N64 and Gamecube ones. I don't have a RGB modded N64 yet so I'm using S video and would his Gamecube setting work with Gamecube games on the Wii? Also for his Gameboy Player setting what would I have to change since I'm using S video? Just the Natural/Picture setting?
