Naruto: Amongst the Whirling Tides Chapter 19
Added 2023-12-03 09:12:04 +0000 UTCHi all,
Here’s the next chapter. Naruto learns a major secret that the Uzumaki clan has been hiding.
Chapter 19
"Will you please stop whining? I’m getting a headache," Naruto said, tapping Minato on the forehead.
"This is extremely uncomfortable," Minato complained, his voice muffled. He was on the ground, his entire body wrapped in bandages like a mummy.
"Can you even feel pain like normal people? Suck it up."
Sai stood to the side and watched their antics. "You seem to enjoy restraining people. Are you really this type of person? How does Hinata feel about this?"
"I think she would like it," Karin chuckled. "You have to keep an eye out on the quiet ones."
“What are they talking about?” Kushina asked innocently. "Does it feel good to be restrained?"
"Do you see what you have done? Don’t talk nonsense around Kushina," Naruto chastised them.
He returned to drawing the seal tag. His mission for the day was to babysit Sai, who was being rehabilitated so he could become an official citizen of Uzushio. It was a far cry from a week ago, when he was having swashbuckling adventures on the high seas, battling pirates and a giant fish. But it had its advantages. Because Sai was proficient in fuinjutsu, he took advantage of the opportunity to pick his brain on the subject.
After his initial meeting with Sai, Naruto demanded that Jiraiya spend more time researching a method to undo Danzo’s cursed seal. Jiraiya finally accomplished it a few days ago, with Minato’s help. The cursed seal was not only a method of preventing someone from speaking about secrets designated by Danzo, but it also prevented those secrets from being plucked from the recipient's mind. It was a necessary precaution because there was an entire clan capable of reading people's minds.
Now that the seal was gone, Inoichi Yamanaka started working with Sai to undo the behavioural conditioning he underwent as a root operative. Fortunately, his conditioning wasn’t as severe as the other root operatives, so the damage should be repaired more easily. Sai was willing to cooperate after Naruto reached out to him.
Sai shared what information he could about Danzo, but it was useless to them. Danzo saw Sai as a promising prospect, but because he was only a Chunin at the time they took him away from the compound, he wasn’t trusted with any sensitive information.
Naruto attached another seal tag to Minato's body.
“Alright, Fukasaku. Try and reverse summoning him.”
“Why am I used in this manner?” The toad sighed and rose to his feet. He unfurled a scroll on the ground and performed a series of hand signs before pressing his hands down on it. With a pop. Minato vanished, leaving behind a pile of bandages.”
“Still not good enough,” Naruto muttered.
Minato reappeared in a flash. He sat down and waited for Naruto to bind him again. This process has been repeated several times in the past few hours.
Kankuro had taught Naruto the cloth binding technique in exchange for a wind release jutsu. Because Naruto had clones constantly training in his mindscape, he had amassed a good repertoire of jutsu, specifically water and wind release jutsu. None of them were more powerful than C rank, so he should start learning some B or A rank jutsu. But he also wanted to diversify into other elemental releases to keep things interesting.
He recognised that he relied too heavily on his taijutsu, but that was not surprising given that he had the Adamantine Sensing Chains, which allowed him to predict movements. He had huge chakra reserves to draw upon, so he could afford to spend more chakra during battles to end the fight sooner.
Suna Shinobi used the cloth binding technique to immobilise their targets, which was useful when their mission was to capture rather than kill them. He was interested in the technique because he could see it being used for another purpose. If he ever came face to face with an Edo Shinobi like his father, he could immobilise them and ensure they couldn’t be recalled and summoned again.
When he mentioned the idea to Jiraiya and his father, they were intrigued but cautioned that the technique alone wasn't enough to accomplish his goal. He would have to add more seal tags to it, depending on how powerful the Shinobi is that is being restrained.
He had two reasons for using his father. First, his experiments would be more accurate because Minato was an Edo Shinobi. Second, he needed someone who could be summoned somewhere else to simulate being recalled through Edo Tensei, and his options for doing so were limited.
Naruto couldn’t put his restraining technique to the test by destroying Minato's body and then resurrecting him with Edo Tensei. But he didn’t have to because Minato had the toad summons contract. Even after Minato died, the contract was not broken, so he could still summon the toads. They could do the same by reverse-summoning him to Mount Myoboku.
Naruto had so far added seven seal tags, but it was still insufficient. Given how long this technique takes, it was impractical to use during an actual battle. His father, on the other hand, was one of the most powerful Shinobi in history, and he would be extremely difficult to restrain in comparison to other Edo Shinobi.
With his father here, his fuinjutsu had improved dramatically, as Minato had more time to devote to teaching Naruto. He had already created several basic seals during the past week, and he was at the point where he considered himself proficient enough to return to Hisashi to learn the Uzumaki secrets.
“Try it again, Fukasaku,” Naruto said.
Fukasaku attempted to reverse summon Minato again, but this time it failed. Naruto grinned, feeling satisfied with his progress. He removed the seals and freed his father from the bandages. Even though he had finally succeeded in preventing Minato from being summoned, he was still a long way from mastering the technique. He needed to increase his speed, which meant using a stronger seal tag. That was going to be the next thing he practised.
"Are we done yet?" Minato glared at his son. "Imagine the Fourth Hokage being used as a practice dummy. If only the other Hokage could see me now."
“Calm down, old man. I’ve finished—”
"It's my turn,” Sai interrupted, causing Minato and Fukusaku to groan.
Naruto left them to it and joined Karin and Kushina. The older girl was braiding the girl's hair, a simple activity that she seemed to derive great pleasure from.
“How are your arms doing?” Naruto asked.
Karin gave him a sidelong glance. "They are getting better. It helps that I don’t have a bunch of pirates biting them to heal their wounds. Although I wish Tsunade would stop treating me as if I were an interesting specimen. Is my ability to heal really that strange?”
"It’s not the only reason she is spending so much time with you," Naruto insisted. "Tsunade is family, even if the connection is distant. She likes to spend time with you. Although she may deny it if asked, family is very important to her."
Karin shrugged. She finished braiding Kushina's hair, who stood up and ran off to sit next to Sai. For some reason, the girl was drawn to the pale boy. Naruto was worried that Sai’s rude mouth would upset her, but the boy restrained himself around her. He only saved his worst insults for Naruto when she wasn’t around.
“I noticed that you are not making friends with others,” Naruto observed. “How are you adjusting to living in the village?”
Karin shrugged. “It’s a lot better than where I was before.”
Naruto opened his mouth to speak, but Karin stopped him with a hand.
"I don’t need another therapist, so stop bothering me with your annoying questions. I already get enough of that bullshit with Mrs Yamanaka. Look, I went through some stuff, but I can deal. A Shinobi is someone who endures, right?"
Naruto reached out and flicked her forehead, causing her to curse. She glared at him while rubbing her forehead.
“What the hell was that for?” Karin growled.
“What a stupid thing to say,” Naruto said. "Do you honestly believe that Shinobi are supposed to endure? Are we masochists? We've lived this way for so long that we have deceived ourselves into thinking that there's only one way for the Shinobi world to exist."
Karin's brow furrowed. "Do you think you are special? A person who is not weighed down by such fatalistic emotions.”
"Of course not," Naruto replied, shaking his head. "But if we don't make an effort to change, we'll merely be like mindless beasts headed towards an inevitable end. Have you ever wondered why we're here in this village? Many of those who came here share the same sentiment. We must embrace change."
Karin fell silent, her face displaying a thoughtful expression. Naruto observed Sai as he diligently practised the cloth binding technique. To his dismay, Sai was mastering the technique faster than him. As a result, Naruto concocted an excuse in his mind, convincing himself that Sai's progress was solely due to him having witnessed Naruto perform the technique first.
"It must be nice to have your father back," Karin said quietly. “The jutsu that brought him back can’t be all bad.”
“What do you mean exactly?”
"Do you think spending time with him and learning about his past, as well as your mother's past, is worth it? Is Edo Tensei so evil when it can bring back the dead?"
"If it was only used for that purpose, I suppose it wouldn’t be that bad," Naruto replied. "But if we could conveniently summon our deceased loved ones and keep them around indefinitely, it would result in some chaotic situations. For example, what if a murder victim returns to exact revenge on their killer? But they go one step further and murder the killer's family as well. I believe it would result in a world even more violent than the one we have now. Besides, I doubt the Shinigami would be pleased if all of his souls were stolen in this manner."
“You gave that question way too much consideration.”
"I can’t help myself," Naruto grinned. "I am an intellectual with deep thoughts."
"Yeah, right,” Karin snorted.
"Another benefit is that I get a personal trainer who shares so many similarities with my abilities," Naruto reflected, recalling a recent conversation with his father.

A few days ago.
"Why are we meeting here again, old man?" Naruto inquired.
His father had taken him to the secluded underground cavern for a private conversation yet again.
"We need to discuss your training," Minato said, sitting down and motioning for Naruto to do the same.
"I am fine," Naruto replied, frowning. "What gives you the idea that you can come along and interfere with how I train myself?"
"Because we have a lot of abilities in common," Minato explained. "I can ensure that you are training more effectively to reach your full potential."
“Like what?”
"Jiraiya said that the toads would teach you senjutsu at some point."
“That’s right,” Naruto said. "Don't tell me. You've already learned it yourself."
“Yes. Jiraiya and the toads taught me. I can help you with the training once the toads start teaching you. Another thing to consider is the Flying Raijin technique. You did say you wanted to learn it."
“Yeah,” Naruto rubbed his head sheepishly. "But not because I want to be a carbon copy of you or anything. The ability to teleport long distances is extremely useful."
Minato’s eyebrow twitched. "Do you only want it for that reason?"
"Moving on," Naruto said quickly. “I can see where you can be a great help to me. But I don’t require assistance with taijutsu or ninjutsu. I am working on those aspects on my own."
“I heard you learned the Rasengan." Minato smiled. “May I see it?”
Naruto summoned a swirling ball of chakra into his hand. Minato applauded when he saw his creation on display. “I’m proud of you.”
Naruto ducked his head in embarrassment. “It’s not that amazing. I would like to improve on it at some point."
“In what way?”
“I want to combine the Rasengan with the wind release,” Naruto said. "In this regard, my clones can do the majority of the work. It feels like I am cheating with my mindscape.”
"I was trying to do the same thing," Minato explained. “But I failed to do it. Perhaps if I had had more time, I would have succeeded."
"Ha, old man, I will beat you to it."
Minato rolled his eyes. "There is something else I can help you with."
Naruto gasped in amazement as Minato became surrounded by a brilliant cloak of vibrant orange chakra. Minato had activated the tailed beast mode, which resembled Naruto's own, with one noticeable difference—there were no tails present.
"How is this even possible?" Naruto exclaimed.
"Kushina and I only placed half of the Kyuubi inside of you, specifically the yang half," Minato explained. "Your body couldn’t bear the full power of the Kyuubi, so I decided to keep the second half within myself."
"I'm confused. So you're saying that the Kurama within me is only half of his complete self? And why am I stuck with the grumpy half?"
Minato grimaced. "Rest assured, regardless of how dreadful your experience may have been, it cannot compare to my own. Within me resides the yin half of the Kyuubi, which encompasses its darkest essence. Building a friendship with such an entity was undoubtedly challenging. But I had little else to occupy my time, so I could be patient."
"You can physically act within the Shinigami's stomach," Naruto remarked. "How does it feel to be dead?"
"To some extent," Minato replied. "I am afraid I can’t say much more than that. Most of my memories of my time there are hazy after I was resurrected.”
"The Shinigami probably doesn’t want it to get out what it’s like to spend eternity in his stomach,” Naruto mused. “Given how easy it is to seemingly pull someone out of it, removing memories of its tenants is a smart idea.”
Naruto took a closer look at Minato's form. "Are you going to tell me why your tailed beast form has no tails?"
"You can only obtain this form after gaining full cooperation with your bijuu. I call it the Kyuubi Chakra Mode."
“That doesn’t sound right. I am working with Kurama."
“Are you sure? Would you mind telling me about your interactions with him?"
Naruto did so without hesitation. Minato appeared surprised by how well his mindscape worked, but he set it aside for the time being. "I am sorry, but that level of cooperation is insufficient to obtain this form. Kyuubi appears to be working with you only reluctantly. It’s not a complete chakra fusion."
"Do you mean I need to get closer to Kurama?" Naruto asked. "I would rather pull out all of my teeth. What is the difference between our two forms?"
“It’s simple,” Minato said. He picked up a rock from the ground and squeezed it. The rock exploded, scattering rock fragments everywhere. "Your form is inefficient, as you aren’t getting the most power out of it. The main reason, however, is that you are still susceptible to the Kyuubi's influence. Two tails are safe, but as you add more tails, you will feel the debilitating effects of his chakra even more."
"It took a long time for me to master even two tails," Naruto sighed. "I suppose I could go back and see Kurama. But it will not be a quick process. I would rather work on my fundamentals than rely on Kuramas' chakra so heavily.
Minato nodded. “That is the correct attitude to have.”
Naruto straightened up after something his father said earlier piqued his interest. "Wait a second. Did you say my mother participated in sealing the Kyuubi away? Does that mean she is also trapped in the Shinigami's stomach?"
"No, I wish I could be with her in the Pure Land," Minato lamented, looking down. "I was the one who performed the reaper death seal. She assisted me in creating the Eight Trigrams Seal. She told me she could improve the seal, but I had no idea what she was talking about. After hearing how your mindscape works, I finally understand what she was talking about."
Naruto reached into his vest and pulled out a letter, which he waved at his father.
“I managed to undo the seal on this letter you left me,” Nauto said. "It mentioned that you had some reservations about your mother's fuinjutsu ability. That what she was doing with it was similar to magic."
Minato sighed and looked off into the distance as if recalling a memory. "We had a disagreement about it once. I had noticed far too many inconsistencies. I could tell she was withholding information from me, but she refused to say anything. She was afraid that whatever secret she revealed would put her in danger."
"You had to have suspected what it was about, right? Uzushio was burned to the ground because the other hidden villages were afraid of their ability with fuinjutsu."
“Of course. But it was only a suspicion until she revealed her secret to me. The village was struck by tragedy before we could get to that point.
“Maybe she was afraid to tell you because you were the Hokage who had responsibilities that came before your family,” Naruto replied. “What exactly happened that night anyway?”
"The Kyuubi attack was masterminded by a single individual. He went by the name Madara Uchiha."

Naruto returned to the present when he felt Karin touch his arm.
"What is the matter with you?" Karin asked. “I have been trying to speak to you several times.”
"Nothing," Naruto replied, rising to his feet. He extended a hand to her. "There is someone I would like you to meet. I am sure he will be pleased to meet you."
“Who are you talking about?”
"Patience," Naruto said before turning to speak to his father. “Hey, old man. Can you take care of Kushina? I am taking Karin to meet someone.”
"Fine, but go get Anko first," Minato said. "I have zero trust in this guy. He reminds me far too much of Orochimaru."
"Is Minato afraid he won’t be able to handle just one itty bitty Chunin?" Karin laughed at him.
Naruto led Karin to Hisashi's secret underground lair. When the man materialised in front of her, she jumped and hid behind Naruto.
"You could have warned me," Karin grumbled. "Who is the old man?"
“This is Hisashi,” Naruto said. "My late great uncle."
"Hello!" Hisashi smiled. "I see you have found another Uzumaki. Naruto, you work quickly. "What is your name, girl?"
"My name is Karin," she said as she stepped out from behind Naruto once she realised he wasn’t a threat. How are you even able to exist like this? Is it similar to the Edo Tensei?"
"Does it seem to have a physical form?" Hisashi reached out to touch her, and his hand passed through her body.
“Don’t do that!" Karin shrieked. She took a step forward and looked him over carefully. “Weird. I had no idea the Uzumakis were capable of such things."
"Not many members of our clan did," Hisashi admitted. "Please take a seat and tell me about yourself. Are your parents still alive?"
Karin sat with her back to the wall, and Naruto joined her. "No, they died when I was a child. Bandits attacked the town where we were living at the time. If it wasn’t for…”
“Yes?”
Karin shook her head. “I don’t want to talk about it.”
Hisashi noticed her mood shift and changed the subject. "What skills do you possess?"
"I am not much of a fighter, but I am a sensor," Karin explained. "I have an odd ability to heal others simply by allowing them to bite me. I can also bite myself and instantly heal my wounds."
"You must be from the Uzumaki family's Tanaka branch," Hisashi exclaimed. "Only that family possessed that ability. They were held in great regard.”
"That is my surname," Karin said, nodding. "My parents must have started using it to hide the fact that they were Uzumakis."
"That appears to be the case," Hisashi said, nodding. He looked at Naruto. “Isn’t it an amazing coincidence that Karin so happens to be around your age? She can—”
“Don’t go there,” Naruto warned.
"—become your wife and bear the next generation of Uzumakis."
"No way!" Karin yelled. "I’m not turning into a brood mare just because I am an Uzumaki. Hinata will kill me if I develop romantic feelings for Naruto. She is already staring at me with those strange lavender eyes."
“What?” Naruto blinked. “I haven’t noticed anything.”
"There is already something I like," Karin continued, ignoring Naruto. "My ideal man is Sasuke Uchiha."
Naruto's eyes widened. "How do you even know that asshole?"
“I met him in the Forest of Death. He saved my life.”
“That doesn’t mean you have to like him,” Naruto argued. “Find someone else who is more worthy. He is a lost cause.”
"All right, enough," Hisashi said. “I get it already. As much as it was nice to meet Karin, is there another reason you came here, Naruto?"
"I have done as you requested," Naruto said, rising to his feet and approaching the man. He pointed his finger at him. "I have learned enough fuinjutsu for you to finally tell me the Uzumaki's secrets."
"Are you certain?" Hisashi asked. "It hasn’t been that long since you started learning."
"I was properly motivated. Now, stop stalling and reveal your secrets."
Hisashi shifted his gaze to Karin. "I am sorry, but I am unable to share this information with anyone else at this time. Would you please leave?"
Karin shrugged and got to her feet. “I will wait outside, Naruto. Don’t take too long.”
Karin walked through the doorway, and Hisashi returned his attention to Naruto. "Are you certain you want to know? Once you know it, you cannot take it back.”
“What are you so worried about? I’m sure I can handle anything you throw at me.”
Hisashi nodded. He stamped his foot on the ground, eliciting a rumbling sound. Naruto saw the huge circular gate on the far wall lower, revealing a passageway beyond it. It continued until it sank into the floor and disappeared completely.
Naruto looked at Hisashi, who motioned for him to proceed. “I can’t follow you inside. You will have to learn everything on your own.”
He entered the passageway. He examined the walls with interest, as several murals were etched on them, depicting a man holding a brush. He had no idea what it meant, so he continued until he came to another doorway. Unlike the previous one, this one had an inscription on it, which he read.
My most beautiful and dangerous creation
The Seventh Treasure Tool
Because of its power, I have hidden it away
Hidden among my line's descendants
Those who live amongst the whirling tides
The power of creation is at their fingertips
The combination of Yin-Yang release
And fuinjutsu; to transform the world.
Naruto frowned. The poem meant nothing to him. Why did all poems have to sound so vague?
"How am I supposed to continue?"
When he reached out and touched the gate, it shook. It performed the same action as the previous gate and sank into the floor.
Naruto entered the chamber on the other side, which was a small circular room with a single feature. A pedestal stood in the centre of the room. As he approached it, he looked around cautiously, but there wasn’t anything else there. He spotted an ink brush on top of the pedestal. It was completely black, but there were small symbols of stars and planets on it.
“Is this the big secret they were hiding?” Naruto frowned. "What exactly does this thing do?"
He was about to reach out for it when he decided against it. Something told him it was a bad idea, so he summoned his chains. He didn’t know why he did it, but he did it nonetheless. The chains reached out and managed to grasp the brush.
Immediately, he felt a massive consciousness brush up against his own. Startled, he attempted to release the brush but discovered that the chains were stuck firmly to it. The chains weren’t even supposed to be able to touch physical objects!
"Interesting," a voice spoke within his mind. “You have a lot of secrets, little one. What is your name?”
“Who the hell is there?” Naruto yelled. “Come on out and face me.”
A man appeared in front of him out of nowhere, looking just as transparent as Hisashi.
He was a tall, elderly man with pale skin. Deep wrinkles lined his face, and he had spiky shoulder-length hair that was a pale brown. He sported an impressive goatee tapered down to his waist. A pair of horn-like protrusions extended from each side of his forehead and pupil less white eyes. A red orb adorned the centre of his forehead.
“Who are you?” Naruto blurted out.
"I was known as the Sage of the Six Paths," the man said. "But you can call me Hagoromo."
"Would you like to repeat that?" Naruto stuttered. "I think I misheard."
“You heard me correctly the first time.”
Naruto collapsed to the floor in shock. It was only then that he discovered that his chains were set free from the brush, but the old man didn’t disappear.
"How come you are here?" Naruto asked. "Didn’t you die a long time ago? I expected you to look like a wrinkled old prune."
"A portion of my chakra is contained in the Sakusei Burashi," Hagoromo replied. "As long as it is there, I can appear here. Although it is not infinite, we must move this conversation along."
“I was led to believe that I would find a secret of the Uzumaki clan in here. Is it referring to the brush?”
"You are correct. It is well known that I created six treasure tools that can still be found in the world today. I created a seventh tool, but only some of the Uzumaki's know of its existence. The Sakusei Burashi.”
“What does it do?”
"It is simple," Hagoromo said. "It allows the wielder to create almost anything with fuinjutsu, but it requires massive chakra reserves to even use it. Then you will need even more chakra to get the desired result. The more ambiguous your desired outcome, the greater amount of chakra is required to create it."
“I don’t understand.”
"Let us use your mindscape as an example," Hagoromo said. "It was created by your mother, using the Eight Trigram Seal as the foundation. But she only had a mental image of what she desired and didn’t have a clue how to bring it to fruition.”
“Did she have enough chakra to wield the brush?" Naruto asked.
“I don’t think I have explained it properly,” Hagoromo said, smacking his forehead. He crouched to speak at his level. "There are two ways to use this specialised form of fuinjutsu. The first method does not require the brush at all, but the result is not as good. When the Uzumaki touched the brush, some of them gained a limited ability to use the Yin-Yang release, which is required to use my creation of all things technique. It essentially turns fantasy into reality. With me so far?”
“Uh-huh.”
“With fuinjutsu and the Yin-Yang release, you can replicate my technique. If you want to create things on a grand scale, however, then you need to be able to wield the brush itself.”
“How many people have managed to do that so far?”
“No one!"
“Right, that would be too overpowered.”
Imagine if he could wield it himself. Because it seemed like his mother was preparing for this very scenario, considering how she designed his mindscape and allowed him to develop a chakra core. As a result, his chakra reserves were larger than most, and he could store extra chakra inside his core beyond his current capacity. It was hard for him to run out of chakra, as long as he prepared well beforehand.
"Your mother had to learn it the hard way. Only two other Uzumaki in that era could use it, one of whom was her father."
Immediately, Naruto’s mind turned to his little sister. Kushina. Tsunade had always been sceptical about how perfectly Kushina had been cloned, even after investigating the laboratory. Could it be that the man used the specialised fuinjutsu to clone her?
Naruto shook his head, refusing to be distracted. "The other hidden villages were correct to be wary of the Uzumaki, though I doubt they would have posed a significant threat if only three of them could use it."
“That’s right,” Hagoromo said. “Even if there were more Uzumakis who could use it, they wouldn’t have used it for war. Your clan is a humble one by all accounts, which is why they are my favourite kind of people.”
Naruto glanced at the brush. “So, will I be able to gain the same ability?”
“Why don’t you try and find out?” Hagoro smiled. “It won’t harm you if you fail to gain anything.”
Naruto rose to his feet and approached the pedestal. Taking a deep breath, he reached out and grabbed the brush. He lifted it off the pedestal and turned it in his hands to examine it.
“I don’t feel a thing,” Naruto said, feeling disappointed.
A huge weight suddenly pressed down on him, causing him to collapse to his knees. Despite this, he didn’t let go of the brush. That is to say, he couldn't. A chakra appeared from the brush and wrapped itself around him like a shroud. It was a metallic grey colour, unlike anything he had ever seen before.
His heart began to pound in his chest, and his breathing became laboured. His bones felt as if they were being squeezed by a giant hand, and they would break at any moment. The torment didn’t stop there. The most agonising sensation was that his skin suddenly became extremely sensitive as if thousands of ants were crawling all over him.
“Goddamit, make it stop,” Naruto cried.
“You need to endure it,” Hagaroma stated.
He sounded far too cheerful for someone who was being tortured. It felt like an eternity before the chakra enveloping him abruptly vanished, along with the pain.
Naruto sucked in a few breaths, his body trembling uncontrollably. When he had recovered, he rose to his feet. It was only then that he noticed that he was still holding the brush in his hand.
“Is that supposed to happen?” Naruto asked.
“No,” Hagoromo said thoughtfully. “I think I have finally found someone who can wield my seventh treasure tool.”
So, what do you think? How will Naruto use the tool in the future?
Thanks for reading.

you're already basically having Naruto do what other authors do but you've got him using clones in his head. I think you should just limit the amount of clones Naruto makes to learn things at least until he gets older and can process the information better as that was one of the reasons this clone was forbidden is the memory backlash can overwhelm a person. While I do think Kurama would probably prevent that there's no reason for Naruto to suddenly be spamming 1000+ clones to learn something in a day or less and then relying on Kurama to prevent him from getting brain damage. I think you should limit him to at most like 50 clones to start with when learning something new

2023-12-03 20:59:48 +0000 UTCI will think about changing it in the next chapter or removing it completely. Maybe my bias is coming from all the fanfics I read. 🤔

2023-12-03 20:54:41 +0000 UTCjust eliminate it all together if you don't like it. Another thing is the TRUE aspect of the shadow clone was extremely important to his senjutsu training as he CAN'T do that in his mind since he won't have Fukusaku to knock the energy out of his clones in his head. He really only used the shadow clone to learn his wind nature so again I don't see why you hate it so much it's not like he used it the way a lot of fanfic authors do where he spams 1k clones and starts them on learning everything he can to the point where he knows and has mastered more jutsu than Kakashi and is better at fuinjutsu than Jiraiya by the time the chunin exams comes around

2023-12-03 18:49:20 +0000 UTCI wanted to add this restriction to the shadow clones because I never liked how it worked in canon. But if I am going to keep getting nagged about it, I will find a way to normalise it in the story.

2023-12-03 18:37:26 +0000 UTCI still say you should just eliminate the Shadow Clones and switch them to earth or water clones if you're not going to use them properly and only allow the memory transfer to occur if he uses them in his mindscape. I mean seriously look at it this way what's the point of shadow clones being created when they're absolutely nothing special other than costing a lot of chakra if they don't transfer memories back? You could create an earth clone and it would not only cost LESS chakra but would be better than a shadow clone as at least an earth clone can take a hit without being dispelled and if you use them in the mindscape then you could just have them transfer memories the way the Shadow Clone is SUPPOSED to do NORMALLY
