I actually had scheduled yesterday as the release date for the beta Popeye core but I got stuck with a problem in the DMA circuit. I thought it would be nice to be able to simulate the schematics directly without having to convert them to text myself. I usually just read them without simulating anything but this time I was a bit confused.
I started copying some schematics to KiCAD, and then wrote a file conversion program to process KiCAD's output into something I could simulate. This is a new work flow I didn't have before: drawing new schematics from old paper schematics and simulating.
This makes the simulation work easier and it also opens up the door in case someone wants to build a new Popeye PCB. Indeed, once schematics are drawn someone may come and lay out the PCB and manufacture new Popeye boards!
Anyway, I already fixed a bug thanks to this. I am trying to finish up to release the beta. Patreon still has not provided me with the final list of patrons for this core but it should come soon too.
