2025-06-28 10:31:44 +0000 UTCI’m not politically aligned with the conservatives for the most part, however, for me, Cameron and May were ‘proper’ politicians, like Major from the 90’s. Even though I didn’t always agree with what they said, when they said something they meant it, and you could trust their word. Unlike the prime minister’s following May. And I respected them for that even though their values weren’t always aligned with my own. It seemed to turn sour for the tories after May (in my view) and thankfully we are where we are now. I promise I won’t spark too much political argument(!) bur just airing my view! :) but yes totally agree with you and David below I work in a benefits department a local Council in Yorkshire and for 20 years I’ve fought tooth and nail for the poorer in society and I will continue to do so!

2025-06-27 12:40:57 +0000 UTCTheresa May. It's funny, was more than happy to see the back of her at the time, but then I saw her as a guest on The Rest Is Politics a while back...really hit me. Have always been Lib, but in retrospect I'd say she's still the best PM we've had in recent times. Someone who wasn't in it for personal gain (far as I know), or incompetent, but someone who'd had decades of experience. Don't agree with how she ran things, but the job came 1st with her, I respect that. Would have probably felt the same way about the late American statesman: John McCain, if he'd become president. Now there was a good dude, a moment that's now cemented in history is when he defended Obama from racist Republican voters. Probably cost him the election 😆 but he did the right thing. Barack even delivered the eulogy at his funeral, so you know there was a lot respect between those two. That type of politician seems almost non-existent these days, especially on the right. Anyway, those 2 eps are worth checking out, interesting interview
