Ren'Py Developer Update - December 2024

This year featured two major releases of the engine, and a steady stream of fix releases, with the next major release planned for early 2025. December was no exception, featuring one fix release and a lot of work on the next major version, which features upgrades to Python and many changes to Ren’Py’s internals to make it faster and better.
This month's article goes into the changes in December, and how they might make development easier and faster, even if most are behind the scenes.

2025-01-01 00:13:59 +0000 UTCI'm honestly not sure. I don't think there are going to be giant new features, but there will be a few, and people always surprise me by what they find important. The thing about Py 3.12 is that it will make development of new features faster. (As will not having to support Ren'Py 7 / Py 2 anymore.)

Will it feel more like a bug fix since some of the planned features you had were delayed? Python 3.12 sounds great and I won't deny it but i feel like I would love for a cool new feature in it's stead. Great post regardless.
