Ren'Py Developer Update - July 2020

This month's developer update talks about the many places in which I've spend Ren'Py development time this months. These include the Web, Mac (Apple Silicon), and Android platforms. It then shows how custom shaders can be used to provide features that Ren'Py didn't have before, including an all-new shader based transition.

Thanks for this! I've been messing with the shader system, and I'm very happy you've added it. I have a few questions. 1. Is there a way to apply post-processing to the entire screen (aside from the UI)? This is clearly possible because it works for transitions, but what if I want the effect to stick around? 2. Is there a way to pass a second texture map into a shader? 3. Is there a way to do additional render passes? 4. Any chance of supporting actual GLSL files in the future instead of passing the shader in as a string? The main thing I'm hurting for right now is the ability to define methods, which don't seem to work if you just stuff them into the body of the shader.
