Shuffling Choice Menus

Our next tutorial is up! This one is based on a question I was asked on Twitter, about how to make in-game menu choices appear in a random order. The answer takes us into writing a custom menu function, giving a bit more insight into how things work internally in Ren'Py.

Feel free to let me know if you have an idea for a tutorial topic. While I have a few ideas already, it's always nice to answer questions people have. I can't use topics that are too ill-defined, or too specific to a single game, but there are lots of universal questions that can make for good tutorials.

As to Ren'Py itself, the release campaign for 6.99.13 is well underway. The new tutorial game is finished, though it's still being tweaked to make it work better with translations. I've also been working through the backlog of issues that have built up over the last few months, and on making sure everything passes testing. It's honestly not the most exciting work, but it's necessary to get Ren'Py 6.99.13 (which will likely be 7.0) out the door.

Wow, this looks really easy! This seems perfect for a portion of game that is like a multiple choice test, and would help to prevent remember the order of things.

Shaders - and a modernization of OpenGL in general - are probably the first thing I'll work on once 7 is out the door. Actually, I plan to let 6.99.13 stew for a few weeks and then re-release it as Ren'Py 7. But while I do that, I'll be working on an OpenGL modernization branch.

will Ren'Py 7 have shaders? :P I seem to remember that you wanted to add them to 7, but was long time ago so maybe I remember badly!
