First overview of chapter 4 polls: dominant versus submissive scenes

Thank you for voting and letting me know which paths you have taken. This round of polls had the biggest participation so far with all polls having close or more than 100 votes!

I’ve been thinking about the results and I’ll probably write 3-4 posts about them, in case you also find this topics interesting. If nothing else, it helps me brainstorm a bit some problems/questions I may have.

The first interesting thing for me to look at is seeing how many players each paths have. I started by counting how many of you still are in at least one path of each Love Interest:

Then checked how many of you prefer the more dominant paths/scenes, or the more submissive ones.

There are more submissive than dominant players

The first thing that catches the eye is that there are more of you enjoying the submissive paths than the dominant ones. In the past, the distribution has been more even. For example, in the chapter 1 poll regarding Emma’s scene, the distribution at the time was roughly 50% for each choice, while in poll for her scene in chapter 4 it was 62%/38% in favor of the scene where the MC is submissive.

There are several reasons why this might be happening. I think the biggest one is just that the game has more easily reached the people that have femdom kinks. I’ve seen it being mentioned, discussed and praised in forum threads where femdom lovers share games they liked with their favorite kinks. And “word of mouth” helps a lot spreading the game to players that would like it but aren’t aware it exists.

But that still begs the question:

Why isn’t the game being as recommended among maledom players?

It can be that the more dominant paths aren’t that attractive. Maybe they are too dominant: a common criticism I’ve seen is that there are not enough vanilla/romantic/wholesome paths in the game. Maybe they are not dominant enough: I’ve also heard some criticisms that the MC is not stoic enough, or aggressive enough, or even that the Manly paths are just vanilla and a wasted opportunity. It doesn’t help that some people, erroneously, equal BDSM or dominance to sexual abuse and expect to see that in “maledom” paths, which is something that I won’t do.

On the other hand, I’ve also heard those criticisms about the femdom paths. Some people will always think a given scene is too gentle/vanilla and want something more hardcore, while others will say that it’s too harsh and that they would like that it was more gentle/vanilla. It’s very hard to know what to do with this kind of feedback because I read one thing and it’s opposite all the time. So, I’ll just keep following the plan I had from the beginning. Besides, the positive comments/reviews I’ve read far outweigh that negative feedback.

Conclusion:

I’m not sure if this is the right place to ask for feedback because you, as my patrons, obviously like the game as is. But let me know if you have any criticisms/feedback/things to improve about the manly paths.
