The Notebook - 1000 Word Story for CharlietheWolf

The Notebook

A notebook. That’s all it had been at first.

A simple A4 notepad, unassuming and picked up to help put Charlie’s thoughts, bought from the same store he went to every day for college supplies. What had started as a fun exercise he’d tried to write something for a friend had become a revelation.

The wolf had written a story and it had come true. Everything in it had come to pass in front of him as he’d weaved the words onto the page. His friend had gone from a college sophomore to a rich entrepreneur just through him writing it in real time. It wasn’t even that long, a simple short story with narration and clear progression.

It didn’t take long for him to start thinking about what he wanted from it for himself. Money? He wasn’t exactly struggling right now but writing in a lottery win somewhere would certainly be helpful. Romance? Charlie struggled with the idea of forcing someone into such things against their will.

No, he needed something to help out with his other responsibilities. His flat was a sty, he couldn’t cook and laundry was necessary but dull to do every single weekend. It had piled up over many weeks.

He started putting down his ideas. Within moments he heard a knock at his door, his little ears perking up.

“Hi Charlie! You needed me to help out?”

The woman at the door was another wolf, her fur gray in contrast to Charlies brown. She was taller than him by a foot, his head having to move up to look at her smiling face.

“Ye.. Yes! Please, I just need a hand with some chores…”

“No problem! Just let me get started!”

In earnest she began to start gathering up his clothes from the floor, getting them ready get put in the nearby washing machine. Charlie could only grin, his immediate concerns put to rest as his new assistant got to work.

“Ma’am, what’s your name?”

She turned round and smiled at him “Just call me Jenny”

He went back to the book. What else could he do? His college work needed doing… could he just write that it was done?

The wolf took his pen back in his hand and did exactly that. Bullet point by bullet point he went through his homework, his grin only growing.

Once he was done he took a look at the files on his laptop. Sure enough, there were completed documents, ready to be sent off to his professors. He’d done three days of work in the space of five minutes. He laughed to himself in a combination of shock and glee, his brain searching for the next thing to write.

A lightbulb moment occurred. Jenny was already here to clean. She could wait on him hand and foot, he would barely have to do anything for himself again.

He threw words onto the page with abandon, instructions on what he wanted from supermarkets, when he wanted them, what time to feed him, what time he went to bed so that she could stop working herself and make sure there was no noise.

A few hours later he was resting on the couch while Jenny cooked what she’d just gone down to the local mall to buy. He’d had a chocolate bar or two in the meantime, how Jenny was paying for it hadn’t really worried him and he was too giddy to care.

“Right Charlie, it’s ready!”

He barely moved off the sofa “Can you bring it here please?”

The wolf smiled, bringing over the plate of perfectly cooked macaroni and cheese, bacon and peas he’d written was his favorite meal.

“Thank…”

Before he could finish he felt a spoonful of the stuff getting shoved unceremoniously into his maw.

“Ummmfff!”

“Hold still Charlie, I've got to feed you!”

He tried to move his hands up to complain but they wouldn’t budge. He felt his mind start to reframe what was happening. He’d asked Jenny to feed him. She was feeding him. This was what he wanted, what was happening.

He took the rest of the meal without complaint. His shirt had stains from droplets of cheese but he was full by the end, enjoying a strange feeling of contentment. Jenny pulled him onto her lap and started to pat his back. He felt the burp coming and put up no resistance to it as it came out his muzzle.

“Now, let's get you cleaned up”

Charlie took the hand of his new caretaker as she led him to the bathroom. She’d run a bath at some point and he’d not even noticed. Why would he? It was Jenny’s job to clean up after him after all…

As she undressed him he felt vulnerable, scared of her seeing him naked. But why? Wasn’t this what he’d asked her to do? What he’d wanted? That’s why he’d written it in the book?

He barely remembered the time in the bath. Jenny was quick and efficient with washing his fur, fluffing it up with a towel as she helped him out.

“Now, lie down for your diaper sweetie”

Diaper? He didn’t need diapers!

“I don’t…”

“I’m here to take care of you Charlie. Forever.”

Her words entered his ears and lodged there. Any further fight was gone. Reality shifted and made way for a new life for the wolf as he lay down and let Jenny change him into a huge, babyish diaper that would suffice for the night.

Bedtime was only a few minutes away. He’d seen the clock on the way into the bathroom. He could feel his eyelids starting to droop as Jenny carried him to his bed. She sat next to him, stroking his hair and singing a lullaby as his diaper warmed uncontrollably.

“Night night Charlie. I hope you get everything you’ve ever wanted”

From that night on, he always did.
