The movie writer once again misunderstood because although recognised Marvin's feeling depressed, hence the excellent casting of Allan Rickman. What they failed to understand was that Marvin was designed, & TV episode 2 introduces him, as "your robot pal who's fun to be with", but he **feels** depressed because he was so intelligent but had nothing to do with it. TV: robot that looks happy, but made to seem depressed by his style of walking and voice. Movie: robot that looks depressed, as well as depressed walking & voice.
