i dont think it needs to be said but i dont condone victorian colonialism and ideals i just like the aesthetic

also, bc this is the kind of thing that bothers me, before anyone twigs that american cowboys strictly speaking, would not be victorian on account of them being american, australia had/has jackaroos Which are Mighty Similar

An important factor is that Vicky lived a long long life, so the Victorian Era for the empire is a massive 60+ years.

Baron von Watkins

Correct. The closest thing we Americans have to “Victorian” is our Gilded Age (c. 1877-1892) when our aristocracy adopted Victorian values while living in ill-gotten luxury. Then came the Progressive Era, the reaction to the Gilded Age, which is the American equivalent of the British Edwardian Age and the French Belle Époque…

Baron von Watkins

True, I just know a bunch of Americans who do even though it’s incorrect

Also, Wagnerian bard is my jam.

Baron von Watkins

Also anarchist warlock, I very much approve!

Baron von Watkins

but americans did not live under queen victoria, it was civil war era reconstruction era etc, not accurate to refer to any americanisms like cowboys as victorian
