Added 2019-05-24 21:20:21 +0000 UTCkinda wanna do a thing on familiars but thats as far as the idea has gotten. Any additions to that or different worldbuilding ideas would be much appreciated (whichever comment gets the most likes will prolly be what i end up doing)

Being able to have mechanical familiars embued with magic from an artificer, maybe? So a mechanical steampunk type of cat that you have a magical connection with, same as a familiar, except they have more things they can do (Ex. Sonic meow, jumping extremely high, even being mounts for tiny creatures)

2019-05-26 19:04:27 +0000 UTCPossibly how a familiar could influence some behavior or even appearance of it's summoner? Sharper teeth, markings, purring or hissing maybe?
2019-05-25 07:29:45 +0000 UTCMaybe an entry on your world's versions of classic D&D monsters like owlbears or umber hulks?

2019-05-25 04:48:04 +0000 UTCThe only thing I got was maybe like pokemon, but with casting/ summoner attributes, like you always, no matter what or how you make it, leave a mark of your magic in the creation. But they vaguely vary in size/shape. Obviously depending on what they are summoned from/area they are summoned from has an affect, but on the type of for example cat - snow cats in snow areas, domestic/feral in populated areas, forest cats, sand cats etc

2019-05-24 23:51:15 +0000 UTCFamiliars change based on their owner, becoming like physical representations of the owner's general disposition (so a more aggressive owner would result in, say, a cat familiar being larger and with oversized teeth and claws). Mages with a higher affinity for certain magics have an easier time binding themselves to familiars that represent those magics. Representation could be literal or obtusely metaphorical, such as a miniature elemental for people with an affinity for elemental magic or a snake for people with an affinity for binding magic.

2019-05-24 22:58:13 +0000 UTCI like the idea of familiars being affected by the kind of magic/location/patron the caster is using! Like a base owl but then different kinds based on like Feywild or Infernal

2019-05-24 22:47:18 +0000 UTCI think the idea of a farmilliar that can be summoned anywhere but needs the right materials to do so would be cool. Like a cat farmiliar made out of dirt and stone, so it summon it there has to be dirt/stone in the area. Or a bird made out of leaves and sticks and shit
2019-05-24 21:28:05 +0000 UTCHmmmm. In my campaign familiars summoned via Find Familiar are extensions of the caster's will. "Anything can be controlled if you have enough will" & whatnot. Also maybe you can add that the ingredients burned during the ritual casting give the physical basis to summon a familiar with by channeling your magic/will into those burnt ingredients?
2019-05-24 21:22:41 +0000 UTCWhy not draw up different familar looks? Like how they can look celestial, elemental, and various other things? I'm not talking about the special familiars, like an imp or anything like that, but a fox or a raven from the different planes they can summon them from.
