USA vs UK | Win Ben Stein's Money / Win Beadle's Money

In honour of Brett's upcoming 40th birthday (the day it will go out on YouTube), he has asked me to react to an American game show, hosted by Ben Stein (and a young Jimmy Kimmel) and then the British version, hosted by Jeremy Beadle
Both Jeremy and Ben were/are incredibly intelligent men. Jeremy may have been best known for You've Been Framed and Beadle's About but he was a huge trivia buff and hosted an item on TVAM in the 1980's called 'Today's The Day' where he would list world events that occurred on a particular day. Ben, meanwhile, has been a teacher and presidential speech writer in his time and is very well informed and erudite.

I loved the UK version - it was easily the best quiz of Channel 5's infancy - but it wasn't until years later that I realised it was based on a US format. I found loads of episodes of the Ben Stein original on YouTube and really enjoyed them. I picked this episode purely because it was the highest quality of the ones I'd seen. Thank you, Mason and - of course - Kevin!

I think that I preferred the set design in the US version and also the general banter; the UK version seemed to go a bit halfhearted into the aesthetic.
The thing that I preferred about the UK version was that they didn't tell the other contestant what score that they had to beat in the final round. Also, I was genuinely surprised by Jeremy's general knowledge.
What I like about both versions is that they both came across as being quite intimate and like it was happening on the fly.
Also, Happy Birthday, Bret!
Edit: I just looked at Jeremy Beadle's Wiki page and he was aparently known for his gernal knowledge and only lost his money 8 times in the 52 show run.
