After Dooms Day - VI

(rough animation)

Hello everyone! I apologize for the delay in this update! Time seems to fly by so quickly. Right now, I’ve just started the cleanup and color work for the trailer set to be released in winter.

(clean up + color)

Initially, I planned to add paper-style filters through editing on a base layer, but I wasn’t satisfied with the results, so I decided to paint each piece individually. Although it’s slower, I feel like I’m getting closer to the visual I want, and for now, I’m satisfied with it.

(re-painting)

Now It Is October! I personally love this month the most. I really enjoy seeing the various character designs and events during the Halloween season. Therefore, I’ve thought of a small event for our membership community. I’ll be posting related announcements later this week, so please look forward to it!

My characters' designs actually only have two colors, and I think only the "black" part of the characters will use that way of working! I used a mask layer only on the black part and I mixed several brushes with strong texture on top. In this case, I used 5 brushes. It's kind of time-consuming... I was recently influenced by the process in Ghibli's documentary, Isao Takahata, when he created . I recommend to watch it someday!

I love the re-painting look, I’m more used to painting traditional so seeing the brush strokes on digital animation is really incredible. I think the extra time is really worth it for these details, I can’t wait to see more of what you do for this!

I love the result of your painting work! Are you going to utilize the same technique for other parts as well (like the bones), or just for specific objects like clothing? Can I ask how you go about painting in this case? Do you utilize multiple brushes in this process? Sorry if these questions are a lot! I'm just really excited about hearing your thought process on art decisions like these
