Misc Sketches for Stretching Aloe + Line Art

When I was making that last drawing, I did a bunch of random sketches to block out an idea. Basically I started of without any clue as to what I wanted to draw beyond the vague notion that it was to be Aloe, and so the easiest way to find out what you want to do is to just draw random shapes and lines until you find something that starts to work.

Immediately I decided that I wanted to make a somewhat dynamic pose, or at least one that wasn't so stiff. I recalled that one drawing I made of Aloe eating ramen in a ridiculous way and I remember that I enjoyed making it due to how there was so much motion and energy in the drawing, and wanted to recreate that feeling.

Some sketches saw more completion than others, and that's for the simple fact that I figure if a pose is going nowhere or offers nothing particularly interesting then it's worth moving on instead of wasting time on it. For example, the one where there's no boobs at all but some hips and tummy, I ended up ditching that one for the simple fact that as soon as I'd add her boobs, she'd essentially become tits on legs - and I hate drawing that (but I also guess that's part of the challenge of drawing girls quite like Aloe).

You can probably tell which sketch got taken through to completion, but of the other sketches I drew that were also considered were the sitting down pose and the standing on one leg pose. While the standing on one leg pose had a great deal of energy, it'd probably have been annoying to draw since it's at a difficult angle. The sitting down pose on the other hand is quite stiff but a lot of the lines flowed in to each other.

Eventually I took the bizarre stretching pose to completion simply because it was the most interesting one I came up with.  Half way through refining the outline I also figured that it's impossible to stretch your arm quite that far back, so I adjusted it to be more realistic - and now it looks like she's reaching out towards the viewer which wasn't intentional, but ended up adding a nice charm to the drawing.

I'm quite happy with how this drawing came out and how I managed to throw it together in under 3 days - likely because she isn't wearing many clothes. The process was smooth from start to finish, and considering that when I started this drawing I had zero inspiration, it went pretty far. I feel it's also a drawing that could almost tell or story? Or at least it's a drawing that a story could accompany... maybe I'll write one some day.

Special thanks to Snowy Feline, Degenerate, and Lilirulu for giving me some needed feedback during the drawing process.

Honestly i find this kind of "developer comentary" pretty intresting, the image turned out great and its neat to see how it lead up to that. Keep up the good work! ^^
