Does anyone with inside theme park knowledge know why the frozen ride’s flume is painted blue? (it just looks so nice compared to the US disney parks) maybe just bc its brand new. But why don’t they renovate every boat ride and make them pretty like that! I know why. Ok. Nevermind.

have you heard of canadian world in hokkaido? it's a small defunct theme park with no rides but it's all dedicated to anne of green gables. to my knowledge it's still operating as a tiny village for visits on select days and some events here and there.

I'm a fake fan of Spider-Man. My introduction to it was the Raimi movies, and I was obsessed with the animated series The Spectacular Spider-Man as a teen. I know a decent amount about the comic book lore but I have never read any of the actual Spider-Man comics. I also am a huge fan of the Spider-Verse movies and I've even cosplayed Spider-Gwen, but have never read the comic series it's based on. A tiny correction around the 55 min mark, I don't believe it's been mentioned, and I loaded a lot of comments. I think Cookie Ann (the dog) is from Hong Kong Disneyland, while Lina Bell (the fox) is from Shanghai Disneyland. I only learned this recently because I had the chance to go to HK Disneyland myself. Hoping to be able to visit DisneySea one day!

Rick is probably the kirby character that makes me happiest to see. he’s so cute, its crazy, and i used to have a pet hamster with the exact same colours and patterns as rick so everytime i see him i go “awww my cute hamster!!!” im glad hes become the popular pick in the new air riders cus he deserves all the attention in the world

The way the Beauty and the Beast ride kind of puts you in Belle’s shoes and frames the beast as scary at first really reminds me of the episode of the Where We Parked podcast where they talk about the early Disneyland dark rides where you didn’t see the characters because you were supposed to be the character, and then of course the Snow White ride would be scary because being Snow White would actually be terrifying!! editing to add: having now finished the whole video, I am amazed by the amount of effort that went into this, and it was so incredible to get a peek into the world expo!! I didn't even know that was happening, it's so wild to think that it's all gone now And my fake fan subject is probably pokemon tbh, I've played some pokemon go but none of the other games, but they're just so cute and squishy :)

Small worlds is a really cute place to visit, when I went it was really busy though but we still had lots of fun. We went joypolis earlier this year (for the Charisma House collab, cringe I know lol) and it had lots of cute little rides and things that meant we didn’t have time to go on the skateboard ride (plus the queue for that was really long). There’s a ride where you walk through a musical forest and answer questions to get your future/personality told, it’s really fun!

I'm gonna make it my goal to have SPARK in my spotify wrapped next year. That whole presentation feels so fun but also weirdly ominous maybe bc its the US....Also for being a fake fan, I'm sure many prowrestling fans would argue I'm a fake fan despite the fact I watch a lot of the weekly shows now but I didnt grow up with it and I havent watched a lot of stuff from the golden era of wrestling in the 80s or 90s. I visited Puroland a little over a year ago, and I had the same thought you did about the Santa's village feeling. I thought it felt like an old fantasy park with Hello Kitty slapped on at the last minute. I ended up going down a rabbit hole trying to figure out why that is, and it's actually kind of true! I'd have to dig again to find it, but I ended up reading an interview with an American who worked on the original building of the park. The person who designed most of the park did not intend it to be a 'Hello Kitty' park. He intended it to be a brand new world with brand new characters, the Puros. The word "Puro" is supposed to be a combination of the words piero (clown) and pure , and the little santa's elf characters you saw are actually the Puros. Little clown characters from another planet. The park was designed to be their town and each of the characters had their own area with the little factories and animatronic forest animals. I hope I'm not misremembering but, when the park's design came back to the CEO of Sanrio he was mad that there was no Hello Kitty and said like, hey slap Hello Kitty in there. And that's why she feels so forced on top of an unrelated park. The official lore is still that we are in Puroland, where Hello Kitty is a visitor (but she's also like...a princess there now?). I think the boat ride originally followed Hello Kitty traveling to Puroland and meeting the Puros. Slowly over time the Puros have almost totally disappeared from the park to be replaced by more recognizable Sanrio characters. It was a fascinating thing to dig into, but there wasn't a lot of info out there.

The first time I went to Disney World was in 2014, and Duffy was everywhere. He was in basically every gift shop and just being pushed by the park in general (I recall there being some kind of Duffy passport?). I was absolutely desperate for a full-sized plush, but my parents firmly refused, and I scraped together whatever money I had to get a tiny magnetic Duffy, which was supposed to be attached to a fridge or something, although I didn't even have a magnetic fridge, it was just the closest to him I could get. We went to International Drive, and there was a huge outlet store for Disney, and they had a whole wall of Duffy. That was my first clue that not everyone loved him as much as I did. But at least I managed to get the full-sized Build-A-Bear version for less than what I paid for my mini Duffy magnet. Not long after that, we were in EPCOT, and there was a character meet and greet with Duffy himself, with literally no one in the queue. My sister forced me to meet him, even though I hate meeting characters, as I just freeze up. There's a picture of eleven-year-old me with Duffy, and every time I see it, I am filled with the awkwardness I felt when it was taken. We were hanging around that area for a while, and I was literally the only person to take a photo with him. Something about that interaction made me no longer want to play with my Duffy bear, as if it was infused with the spirit of my own embarrassment. I donated him to charity when I got home, though I think we still have the magnet, and he pops up every once in a while, presumably to remind me that I so callously discarded his bigger, less functional counterpart (he has very convenient, articulatable magnetic limbs). We went back to Disney World in 2019 and, predictably, he was nowhere to be found. I had a vague understanding that he was more popular elsewhere, but seeing how popular he is in Japan has warmed whatever remains of my eleven-year-old self's heart. And I now also appreciate that I had a pretty rare experience with him (at least in the American parks). All that to say, I'm sorry I was too much of a coward to love you Duffy!

Ah! They went to Sanrio Puroland! I live near there! "extremely mundane part of town" ....I...well....ok, yeah, that's fair. Loved your World's Fair videos. I went there earlier in the year and loved it. My favorite parts were the Commons buildings with all the countries that couldn't afford to make a proper pavilion. They were like food courts of culture. Also: they are making a specific Pokemon Park inside Yomiuri Land theme park (west of Tokyo, close..ish to Sanrio Puroland), with lifesize Poke centers and everything. I went to Yomiuri Land recently and glimpsed some of the buildings and the Pokemon town they were building. It'll be like walking around the game. You'll have to come back to Japan!

For those who love that USA Pavilion mascot Spark's song and want to listen to it without a Spotify or Apple Music login, some Japanese poster linked the album for both the Japanese and English versions uploaded to a Spotify knockoff here: https://t.co/wRsNyiVV5e There isn't just one "main" song despite the official accounts calling the song title "Together." There's many versions of the song depending on where you are in what I assume is the walking tour/show of the pavilion. The intro part "Connections" is probably the best, uninterrupted song without long stretches of no singing for scenes to be playing. The vocalist is a Japanese artist with the stage name Sincere and usually has the handle "sincere_tanya" for her socials if you want to look her up.

Speaking of Rainforest Cafe, Tracy Tree herself will have to be the character I have the "fakest" fandom for! I don't know her lore, I don't know the names of any of the actresses that voiced her, and I forgot the name of the company that manufactured her long ago, so I can hardly call myself a stan. However, if there's an existing Rainforest Cafe nearby, I will sneak my way into the giftshop so I can briefly pay my respects because she's the one aspect of the chain that my brother and I got the most attached to. I never got to go to FAO Schwarz as a child, so Tracy was , is and will forever be the definitive talking tree animatronic of my childhood, probably even my entire life!

She doesn't work on videos in a linear way, so we don't know when will it be done. I think the barbie one will probably be out first? You should check out Mascot Minutes Silence on twitter. It’s mostly mascots at English soccer matches trying to look solemn at Remembrance Day events. The giraffes and swans have an advantage because their long necks make it easy to solemnly bow. On the other hand the ones with rictus grins on their giant heads are at an obvious disadvantage

I went to japan back in may and went to all of these parks, so this was very fun to watch! Also had a pretty similar experience at expo haha. Nearly all the pavilions I went into had mandatory video segments (at the start/end), I thought if people were able to walk through the attractions and the video was just an optional room, the lines would move much faster... but yeah I'm still glad I went! I also went to ghibli park (it has a small museum there too about the 2005 worlds fair) and shima spain. Thanks for the great video : D

I think those shadow puppets in the Sinbad ride are a reference to Lotte Reiniger's Adventures of Prince Achmed, the first feature-length animated movie. They certainly look similar! It's a really interesting watch, Reiniger specialized in intricate silhouette puppets with delicate features and lush environments. Fair warning that it Prince Achmed is Do You See This Sh*t Edward Said levels of Orientalist though.

I have these two elf figurines from Lineage II that I pined after for YEARS based on aesthetic and aesthetic alone. Idk anything about the game. From what little I know I think I’d actually hate it. Lol! But I love them so much. Pretty hair and long fantasy mage staffs. Who needs more? Speaking of baby yoda. One of my best friends/coworkers knew how much I complained about his ubiquity in marketing and how Zero percent I was interested in the show, and as a prank, decorated my cubicle to the nines with baby yoda merch. It was SUCH a delightful anti-gift (I mean, it meant my friend knew me well enough to anti gift me. I was honored) that I put the big beanbag plush baby yoda he put in my chair on display at the office. I am totally in the same boat about the slimes from dragon quest!! I played the Rocket Slime DS game to death as a kid and fell in love with all the different kinds of slimes. What I would give for a steam port of the game and the rest of the Rocket Slime subseries (or even just a good way to play it in english) There is so much cool slime merch out there now but none of it ever seems easy and reasonable to get in the US.

Watching this from Korea, I'll be in Japan next week. Definitely avoid major train stations, esp. in Tokyo, if crowds stress you out. Shinjuku, Shibuya can all be nightmares during rush hour, and I can't imagine trying to navigate them with luggage if you don't know your way. Glad you had someone help you during your shinkansen travel.

My understanding is Japanese might dry their own bathroom floors by hand using towels. This is because many Japanese bathrooms are "wet" bathrooms where the shower can spray anywhere in the bathroom (there's a drain in the floor and no designated area to shower.) With this in mind, it makes sense that they also dry their wet stage of excess water using hand powered toweling. They aren't really cleaning the stage per se where they would want to use a mop, they're just soaking up excess water... which is somewhat similar to what they do in "wet" bathrooms. Basically, drying versus cleaning.

You made me realize I love Tangled so much because it actually has a nice romance (is it the last Disney with a truly romantic love story??) - a bit sad to see the ride is so short though! I had only seen the lantern room online and didn't realize that was kinda..it.. I'm also definitely a fake pokemon fan. I hate to be the one to tell you this but I believe that alligator in the ride at Puroland was actually Pochi (Badtz-Maru’s pet alligator), not Big Challenges. Obviously the only way to remedy this oversight is to give Big Challenges a dark ride dedicated solely to him, if not an entire section of the park.

He’s not a marauder; they’re very specific that he’s supposed to be this pious Muslim merchant, the ideal Muslim guy, except he just repeatedly goes gallivanting on incredibly poorly thought-out adventures that inevitably end up with literally everybody other than him brutally dying. And he somehow makes a ton of money at the end of it and gets home, and he’s like, “Inshallah, I’ll never do that again,” and then, like, a year later, he’s like, “But I got bored,” and decides to brutally condemn another couple hundred sailors to horrible deaths because he knows for a fact that he’s the least lucky fucking person who ever lived. And the one that I just specifically remember is: he goes to some island and gets tossed in a tomb by this weird group of tomb enthusiasts who are like, “Yeah, we like to throw people in tombs.” And he’s like, “Well, this sucks. I’m gonna starve to death in this tomb.” And then he’s like, “Oh wait—they’re gonna keep throwing other people into the tomb.” So he just waits by the “drop people here” part of the tomb and then just kills and eats the corpses of the other people they keep throwing in, including specifically women and young brides, so probably children by, you know, islam circa one thousand ad standards. And he does this for an indeterminate amount of time before finally escaping. And then he gets back, and he’s like, “Inshallah, Allah is great.” And I’m like, is He great? Because you just fucking ate, like, twenty-five different innocent women, a bunch of whom were probably teenagers at best. That doesn’t seem like a godly activity to do.

- I like how assertively you said you werent going to show any footage of sanrio park and then immediately started showing the footage - I just got back from japan four days ago and bought the exact same dudunsparce pencil case and jaws keychain plush!! I'm a fake fan of a lot of things but suddenly can't think of any off the top of my head. Def Pikmin (love them, never played the games) and Jaws (I loooove the ride and have several pieces of merch, haven't watched the movie) and sailor moon....but I feel like Pikmin and sailor moon are pretty basic picks and maybe liking the ride so much makes me less of a fake fan of jaws? This time I went to universal with the sole focus of doing the apothecary diaries experience and then looping jaws as much as I could until the park closed. But then my friend I was traveling with ended up coming and booking us a bunch of express passes so I only rode jaws once 😭 but at least I got to ride donkey Kong (haven't been to epic yet), and the detective Conan 4d show surprised me! It had live acting elements whereas the chainsaw man one I went to last time was purely screen. Maybe that also makes me a fake detective Conan fan.

Jenny, Jenny! This was so exciting to see because I was literally in Japan a month before you were! Partly because of your theme park commentary, I made my first trip to Disney Sea. The whole time I was there I kept thinking about the things you typically highlight as making or breaking a theme park experience, and it was a really helpful lens through which to view the park as someone who doesn't really go to a lot of theme parks. I especially thought of you on the Sinbad ride, which I agree was amazing! I also fell in love with Duffy, and I got the same Duffy ear hat you did XD I also have to call out that I did go to Komeda Coffee! If you end up making it there, you can get a little breakfast set (just like, toast and hardboiled eggs) for the price of a drink, so it's a good place to go if you need a quick breakfast. I also don't know if this is interesting to you, but I also checked out the Ghibli Park while I was there. It's not a traditional theme park, but it was definitely really interesting and great to check out if you're a fan of the studio. The attention to detail in the locations was really cool. You also might find Huis Ten Bosch in Sasebo interesting. It's basically, like, Europe themed? But it's one of the more popular theme parks in Japan, so definitely interesting to check out.

Just a small suggestion but every time I watch one of these videos I'm like: "Could I possibly afford this in my lifetime?" and I also wonder how much prices might vary abroad, so I'd love if you could give some rough estimates of how much money you spent. Definitely check out Kamakura if you ever get to go back. I got to spend a few months near there for work. They have the giant Buddha, a Ghibli store, and lots of neat shops. You can even get a jam filled tart of the Buddha's face and matcha ice cream

Did a first time visit to Tokyo Disney land and sea in the spring so this was SUCH a fun watch! But also—I was COMPLETELY FOOLED BY 20,000 LEAGUES. IT'S DRY?? It broke down while we were riding it (complete darkness) and I genuinely had a little anxiety being like "uh oh I can't understand what's happening and we're trapped underwater teehee" so hearing Jenny say "so that's why it's not totally terrifying to be stuck underwater with 6 strangers" was both eye-opening and validating.

Absolutely loved this video; could have chilled out with Vacation Jenny even longer. After Expo 67 in Montreal, my province bought two of the pavilions and had them reassembled here. Like you, I feel pretty frustrated by the thought of how much from the Expos/World's Fairs goes to waste; it feels pretty special that those two pavilions still stand and were given new purpose in communities in rural Canada that wouldn't have otherwise boasted such unique architecture (One operates as a museum and the other as an event theatre).

I am definitely a sham fan of Donkey Kong, whom I LOVE deeply but I only ever interacted with him on Mario Kart. He is my go-to character and DK jungle is my favorite track, but never in my life have I played an original Donkey Kong game. Honestly I feel like such a fake fan of any of the Pokemon I like. I know they're like just Guys and a lot of them don't have extensive lore, but every time I walk into a Pokemon center and buy merch, having played maybe a single Pokemon game, I feel a little like a fake fan. My character that I'm a fake fan of is Lobo, from DC comics. It's not even just that I haven't gotten around to looking up media with him in it; I actively avoid stuff that he's in, and I hate what I've seen of his comics and cartoons and everything. There are two Superman things that he appears in that I like, and he's the worst part of both of them. He's just the cringiest version of a gen-X nerd's idea of a cool/edgy badass character, and he's never funny. But I really like his design, especially the old Simon Bisley comic book covers. He just looks like he SHOULD be a really fun character. So, I try to ignore all of his actual media and just enjoy the version that lives in my head.

This was an excellent video, very engaging and fun watch! I'd say I'm a fake fan of Seshi from Delicious in Dungeon, he's a cute dwarf who can cook but I've yet to actually watch or read his source material. Kinda more localized I guess but some of my favorite pokemon designs that I am always ranking at the top of lists and have some merch of are from the Sun/Moon games and I have not managed to play those games for more than a couple hours. Add on for a side tangent, but I'm constantly checking the jurassic park merch when I'm at the parks even though I hardly ever see anything I like, and they came out with a shoulder character of the baby dino from the new movie. It is cute, it moves and makes a noise when you pet it, but its made of hard plastic, so you'd be walking around with an awkwardly heavy plastic dino on your shoulder attached with a magnet that needs 3 AA batteries to function, for $60. I have no idea what they were thinking. They have like two walls of the shop filled with this thing and they've been up for months at this point. I don't think anyone is buying them. I still pet them anytime I'm in there but now most of them don't work cause the batteries are dead. Universal did release a regular shoulder plush of Toothless, but far as I could tell it was an extremely limited release that sold out immediately, so there aren't very many out there, and yet I've still seen them a few times in the parks. There is interest when they do it properly, they would just really rather people buy the $60 ones.

I love all the weird random merch they have in Japan, and just in general always seems to be better quality than anything comparable in the US. Its so fun to see the Iago shoulder plush! I mostly go to the Universal parks now but it feels like shoulder character/plush here are few and far between, and all magnets instead of clips (less sturdy imo), or have moving parts so they cost like $60. I feel like more people would buy and wear them if there were ever any available in the stores at a reasonable price, but I hardly ever see any.

I went to Tokyo Disney Sea in April, and we waited to get in at park open and I RUSHED to the Sinbad ride because you had talked about it in your animatronics top 10 a long time ago and I remembered how impressive you said it was. There was absolutely no line, nobody else wanted to get on it. BUT I did because you said it was cool, and it was! Then we waited for almost 2 hours in line for Peter Pan not knowing what it was and it broke down immediately and we were walked off the ride. Can confirm, it was just basically a big gray room with screens everywhere. And I was asked not to film the ride exit by a cast member, not that there was much to see. I still had a really good time and want to go back. My fake stan character is Bub and Bob from Bust a Move. I remember it from a Bust a Move arcade from my childhood that I never played because my parents wouldn't give me quarters, so I just watched the attract over and over.

I have an pretty obscure character for my answer: Yuki MIzuhara from Yakyū-kyō no Uta, she's from a baseball anime from the late 70's, as far as I'm aware there is no English dub or sub for this series available online unfortunately. The series was based on a manga which also got a live action movie and show adaption as well

If I'm a "fake fan" of anything, it'd probably be Game of Thrones. I saw the first episode when it premiered way back, but never watched anything but clips after that. I gained intimate but incomplete knowledge of events as they unfolded through the years via podcasts, YouTube videos, memes, and family/friends who were into the books and show. I've had Game of Thrones dreams featuring my brain's vague understanding of the characters. I know how the show ended and didn't think twice about consuming all the spoilery reaction content I could because I have never had a desire to actually watch/read any of it for real. I guess I just like hearing people talk about it, and yeah, I'll admit, a lot of that is people bemoaning the last season. It's just funny. Second place goes to Final Fantasy. Never played a single one of the games, but that music is very nice.

I guess I am a fake fan of Lightyear, I bought an expensive premium figure of the Buzz character specifically from Lightyear with the orange space suit which I assume he wears at some point in the movie but I wouldn't know because I never bothered to watch the film. As someone who's been living in Japan for a decade this video felt like it was made for me :D The bad luck it takes for two rides to kind of break down on you at Disney is incredible. It's upsetting that people overreacted to your video of the ride out of order, but unfortunately it's to be expected considering there's a very strong anti-foreigner/tourist sentiment going on in the country (which is amplified online). I hope you were able to enjoy your time at the parks either way! When I heard you were thinking of going to the Expo, I was like "she's not going to love how there's a long line to get into everything." I went around the start of summer which was probably even HOTTER and I don't think I would've survived without a handheld fan and UV umbrella. Overall, it felt like a Japanese-tailored experience as the country as a whole is more willing to put up with waiting in long lines, blazing heat or no.

Something that I wanted to do but didn't have time for when I was in Tokyo was the "Immersive Fort" in Odaiba (not far from Joypolis). It looks like a sleep no more style place but with several different vignettes you can take part in or move through. The second I saw it I thought "oh I wonder if this is something Jenny would like" since I was in the middle of binging the 'nevermore saga' for the third time. I was able to go to Joypolis when I was there, the halfpipe ride you referred to IS quite fun (if a bit disorientating).

Despite the name, Mickey's Halloween Party isn't just an after-hours event, it's the name of the all-day special stuff around the park on those days. People are allowed to wear costumes all day in the US park on Mickey's Halloween Party days, and there are various trick-or-treat stations set up around the park with free candy for kids. I've gone more than once and everyone was in costume during the day. I think they don't allow it all year because in April or whatever people would probably only dress up as Disney characters, which causes confusion for guests about who the actual character is, but in October tons of people dress up and not just as Disney characters so maybe it's less confusing? Not sure.

I was in the Navy, catch me never going on a cruise, absolutely not, the sea is death on all sides I've done all the emergency training there is no way im getting on a boat that big. Its also gross and everyone gets sick the second anyone else does. Wow, such a long video! Thank you for editing in all the clips! I was at the Osaka expo in September and was so curious how you felt about it after seeing on twitter you went. I was suprised when you said most of the pavilions were about going to space and AI because that wasn't my experience at all. We only got into three of them (which felt really bad at the time but seems to be pretty average): Germany (sustainable cities), Spain (water) and Thailand (wellness and medicine). I think if every pavilion I went to was about AI, I would have been even more disappointed than I already was.

Just finished the video and to be honest, I feel like there are a lot of topics/niches that I'm not a fan of but know a lot about through my favorite YouTubers, like I become a vicarious fan (e.g. I haven't really been to theme parks, but can chat with my friends and customers who enjoy them because of your and Defunctland's content!) But an opposite example is the Titanic. It's one of my special interests and I often forget that other people don't know so much about it. I got this card game called S.O.S. Titanic and in it, you play as the officers on the ship. First time playing, I asked my friends who their favorite officer was so they could play him and no one had an opinion because no one knew any of the officers by name, much less by personality lol. But I appreciated the game all the same, felt like it was made for me.

My friend who spoke Japanese was off visiting a friend in another city, and I got lost in the Tokyo station. I was scared it was a sign from the universe not to go (silly me) so I bailed and went back to our hotel. This video makes me feel like I was there! 😊 (We did get to go to Disneyland Paris this year, so that made up for it—very lucky!)

I also got to go to the World Expo this year! One of my favorite sections was the Myaku-Myaku House, which had a very lengthy, unnecessarily detailed explanation of the character’s lore. I love that despite some shortcomings of the Expo (long wait times, reservation system, lack of shade), Myaku-Myaku is pretty universally loved. Was crazy seeing Myaku-Myaku merch/art/clothes/posters/sodas around every corner in Osaka!

I object to Jenny's Rapunzel slander, but I'm horrified that Mother Gothel and I've Got a Dream aren't in the Tangled ride. Because the park designed the ride to span the movie's story, how could these storylines be ignored? Imagine how cool it would be for Mother Gothel to sneak alongside the boats, staying in the background, until a center-stage confrontation with Rapunzel after the lanterns. P.S. i just got back from japan ! also went for an event, but ours was a convention called "design festa" which is a HUUUUGEEE artist alley. that's it, just thousands of tables selling original art- clothing, jewelry, accessories, toys, decor, paintings, you name it. another event i think you'd enjoy jenny, just for whimsical shopping from the japanese artists. it happens twice a year if it happens to be on your next trip!

To answer your question at the end, a mascot I love even though I have never consumed his media is Toro Inoue, Sony Cat! I didn't have a PlayStation growing up so I never actually got to play his games, but I think the mascot is so adorable and weird looking. It's a shame he's not really a thing outside of Japan!

I'm about an hour in and I'm realizing how unbelievably cursed my own trip to Disneysea was last year. Late October, unbelievably crowded, didn't know the thing about Duffy drops meaning the stores became reservation only so THAT was a disappointment, there wasn't a night show in the harbor that day, etc. I'd be happy to go back and try again but I feel like all my friends were really soured and cynical about the Disneysea experience. I looked this up because I didn't know what you meant regarding the name of Lotte World. For other people wondering: Lotte is the name of one of South Korea's biggest chaebols, that is a corporate conglomerate controlled by one family. Chaebols are very powerful. Much can be said about their cultural and political influence, but I'm far from qualified to go deeper. But I thought your comment on this was really interesting and I think I get what you mean now. It feels... emblematic? And bittersweet, for art to have to be connected to tycoons instead of standing for itself. Thank you for mentioning this, I think it's really interesting.

So happy to see a new post! We’ve been curious what your Japan trip was like. Also, I’ve commented this before, but I’ve been very curious how the parks in Korea from my childhood has evolved. One of them is completely indoors. It’s called Adventure. And Lotte World was an outdoor one whose theme I never quite got. But the name says so much about Korean culture, I feel. Does anyone with inside theme park knowledge know why the frozen ride’s flume is painted blue? (it just looks so nice compared to the US disney parks) maybe just bc its brand new. But why don’t they renovate every boat ride and make them pretty like that! I know why. Ok. Nevermind.

have you heard of canadian world in hokkaido? it's a small defunct theme park with no rides but it's all dedicated to anne of green gables. to my knowledge it's still operating as a tiny village for visits on select days and some events here and there.

As an Illinoisan and a person who's visited a few presidential museums: Yes, the Lincoln Presidential Museum is pretty good! There's also a neat place called Lincoln's New Salem, living history kind of place. Recommend them both! I am so excited for the upcoming Obama museum in Chicago.

For characters I like but haven't consumed the media of, it used to be Bluey but then I watched the show and really liked it. I guess now the closest thing is pre-breath of the wild Zelda because I really like legend of Zelda but I have never beaten any of the games made before breath of the wild

I wanted to go to the World's Fair but not quite enough to spend the money and vacation days on it, so it was very cool to get this whole rundown of the experience!

I scrubbed through the footage showing all the american national parks and points of interest for anything from Washington state. Why am I slightly devastated that I didn't see anything? I'm sure it was there, the Hoh Rainforest and Mt. Rainier at least, and it just didn't make it into the footage.
